Oh nooooooo! Am I blocked now?
Did you murder me in cold blood? See below:
I like the Reverse Iron man approach but what do you do about those you kill ?
Do you block them once you have killed them ? or do you never kill a player ?
I don't murder anyone in cold blood. Even when I pirate, I disable their ship, but never I destroy their ship unless they go aggro on me. It's only cold-blooded murder that I "reverse iron-man". If you kill me in a combat zone (assuming we're on opposite sides), then that's fair game. If you kill me for a bounty on my head, that's fair game. If you attempt to pirate me and I decide to flee instead of giving up cargo and you destroy me, I usually won't block you despite it being murder, because you gave me a chance to live. I'll even forgive cold blooded murder in most anarchy systems, because like fleeing a pirate, that's on me.
In other words, I use blocking as an anti-griefing tool (these nimrods who kill the same player a dozen times who are only trying to get their exploration ship to Felicity), but I add the extra layer of only doing so after that griefer / ganker successfully kills me, allowing them the opportunity to kill me at least* once. Sure, I wrap it in narrative to make it more immersive (to them I am dead, to me they are in prison for attacking me in a secure system), but ultimately it's an anti-griefing tool. So to your question - I don't grief. Heck, if I kill an inexperienced player in a CZ, I'll try not to do so again in the same night, because that just doesn't feel very gentlemanly (unless he attacks me first).
* I usually reset my block list every few months, with the exception of the well-known "all I do is grief" PITAs.
