Newcomer / Intro I got the ship that can kill anything, now what?

oh my god, how bad can it be? is the corvette also bad? is there are a chance piloting it efficiently actually takes more skill thats why people hate to learn it?
Problem is that with big lumbering ship you can be best pilot in universe, but you are not outturning anybody even somewhat competent pilot with more agile craft. And whatever tinkering to ship you do, it is not going to be that much more durable to balance the issue. That other guy has no problems of hitting your big ship, but you are going to have problem in hitting his ship.

OK first off, remember that people here have been partying together for a while and we are familiar with one another. You're just learning people here, so you don't get all the back-stories. And just so you know, @Old Duck is a VERY good and experienced person to get to know.
Second, that's not what we're saying - not at all. The Anaconda is a spectacular ship; in fact it is so good it breaks the laws of physics - it's half the mass it should be. But combat in ED is a precise balance of speed, energy, tactics and knowledge...and only the best can use the Anaconda to her fullest advantage. And to anyone reading yes, that's Ganx. He's practically unstoppable in that thing. She is much slower to turn than almost any other ship and requires solid knowledge of linear vs. angular positioning. You CAN'T outturn an enemy, so you need to get distance to reduce the angle-of-fire, and work to keep your opponent in that angle. Done well, the Anaconda is superb. Done poorly, it's a coffin. That's what we've been saying throughout this thread.
Every single ship in this game can be the BEST ship in the game depending on individual preference, role and ability. Newcomers tend to think that the larger ships are better. Experienced players choose more versatile craft. TOP players often choose large vessels, because by that time they've learned how to deal with the limitations.
If you want to fly the thing that's great - I'll do my best to help you get better with it when we meet. :)

This is really good advice - CQC is one of the most forgotten parts of ED and while it has been toxic at times, it is a great place to learn on a roughly equivalent level.

I finally managed to get some CQC going on the other day (it's been dead forever in there). Had 1 good game, then a level 50 guy turned up and fought a bunch of level ones and a level four. Nobody managed a single kill against him. The rest of the time is waiting endlessly for enough people to turn up for a game to start.

I doubt I'll bother again.

ok then can you at least recommend me some weapons to mix my loadout out because some guy said im lacking long range damage and i kinda feel it. which are good options?
To my knowledge thats more of an engineering option than specific weapons. I typically use beams multis and packhounds. Never failed me yet

Been loads on since the Epic free download. Personally I'm level 49 and often get killed, but not as often as I used to!

Hello everyone, I got the game from epic and aaaaallly got into it, at first i did some trading and taxi because i loved the futurama vibe, long story short i was saved up for a ship i like and now i have it, but the problem is all combat missions are kinda... meh? I feel like a bully killing endless pirate cobras. What are the coolest things to do with my awesome battleship? o7
