Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

My game style needs to be a bit more relaxed, so started to test these GameGlass side panels. Not convinced yet, more " pushy de buttons" interfacing.
I don't think combat will be fast enough..
And they still need to include an auto docking request. Probably will use with EDDI, and see how things flow.

I was thinking.

At the Guardian structure, is it possible to raise the energy pylons and destroy the sentinels from your ship?

Then deployed the SRV to energise the pylons...

Next time I'm out that way, I may attempt it.
I think you need the buggy to raise them iirc, but you can use ship to then activate the pylons and kablammo the Sentinels. Then back to buggy to drop the thingy and get the thingy from the thingy.
I think I need to go back to thingy. Sleep.

I arrived at Beagle Point at 9:31 PM Pacific Standard Time 12/28, and docked with the DSSA Distant Worlds FC at 9:48. This, along with the planned hop to Oevasy, is the culmination of my latest exploration project that started in late summer.

Arrival at Beagle Point.jpg

I left Trinh Terminal (Tsondama) on 9/6, and arrived at Colonia (Jacques Station) on 9/10 at 1:51 AM. I stayed there until 9/13, and departed toward Sagittarius A. The Galactic Center region was reached on 9/16 at 11:26 PM and Sagittarius A on 9/17 at 6:51 PM.

I explored the nearby Juenae sector, where I found dozens of previously undiscovered neutron stars. Before heading toward Mare Somnia, I headed toward DSSA Sleeper Service near Ryker's Hope to turn in the exploration data that I had so far (9/23 11:56PM). This took me high above the galactic plane so I stayed in the area for a few days to explore the high areas of Oopainz, Slauloae, and Synaisa. There, I found plenty of undiscovered systems as well as some stars that were in the lower to upper 2900 LY above the plane (several of these required a neutron boost or jumponium to reach). There were several that were over 3000 LY above the plane, but are unreachable unless you want to do a suicide one way neutron jump or use a fleet carrier. I also found plenty of undiscovered black holes and neutron stars in this region. Below is a screenshot of my Anaconda at Slauloae EG-Y g2, 2967 LY above the galactic plane. This is as high I could get without doing a suicide one way jump.

Here is a screenshot of the SRV in one of the planets in the upper galactic plane. I was lucky to land at a time in which the galaxy was covering the sky, so it looks as if I am at the bottom of the galaxy but this is how it looks like when the galaxy is covering the sky above the planet:

I arrived at the Mare Somnia region on 10/10 at 12:55 AM and the galactic rim of this region on 10/11 at 11:04.

The contrast between the galactic center and the outer galactic rim, in case you haven't yet seen it, is something that must be seen to be believed. Compare Juenae CB-W e2-926 in the galactic center:

to Praei Chruia DH-D d12-0 in outer Mare Somnia:

I explored along the outermost area of upper Mare Somnia (from around Fluye Bliao to Truetchio. Then the focus was on filling some holes in both Mare Somnia and Acheron, mainly in the Gootio, Essap, Cyitchoae, Grie Blao, Hyphieleau, Grie Byio, Chu Theia, Iockam, Swierao, and Nuwhoe sectors.

The above thumbnails show an example of how I filled holes. You can see the hole found in the sectors shown in the third thumbnail, as well as how I left it after I explored it. ED Astrometrics is a great resource for finding unexplored areas around the galactic rim.

Even though the hole shown above is relatively small, it took days to undiscover and scan all the systems found there.

After this, I used the route plotter to head toward Beagle Point. which was reached without incident. As I entered through the northeastern sector of the Abyss, I found dozens of undiscovered systems, but I was fully aware that as I approached BP, there would be nothing but previously discovered systems-this was true for the last 50 or so jumps left of the route (in an Anaconda with a 75.2 LY jump range).

I will head to Oevasy tomorrow and then start the return to the bubble. After I spend some weeks doing activities in and around my home system, it's off to filling more holes in the galactic rim.

Impressive!

Ah, we did make 600 pages! Hehe!

Anyway, in my recent Guardian foray, I picked up an urn, casket and relic. I've had a look that Ram Tah mission thingy that wants them but some of it will be beyond my capabilities. The question, then, is, what to do with the items?

I could just sell them at a commodity markey I suppose...

>>SNIPPED<<<
Btw. The sounds at the Gaurdian structures are simply amazing. It literally made me jump in the seat at one time, leaving me with a high pulse, and I'm not easily scared :D

I noticed that problem as well...another game that does this to me is Destiny 2...Nothing like exploring deep, dark rooms and such and some fiend jumps out to attack, little alone the background sounds that make it sound like Da Debil is getting ready to burst through the wall.

I give the game devs (especially the sound EFX guys) props...They can make or break a game.

So I went a bit Guardian Shieldtastic and updated my Mamba.

Off to a res to see what happens.
Tyres, seriously, get rid of the ADC and the SCA. Especially in the Mamba, it does free up precious space. Landing the Mamba is a joy, that you shouldn't cheat yourself from. Otherwise a solid build (y)

Maybe it's time to go and work on Hindenburg  I need that final elite rank, and currently I'm only dangerous, even though I have almost 2000 kills. So Hindenburg needs to be deadly in a jiffy, without running red hot and out of ammo. Back to the lasers I guess. In a Mamba I should be able to get close enough to use efficient beams. I also consider CZ since I have no beef with the thargoids.

The Mamba is also a really cool ship for just flying around with no real goal. Kind of like the old motorcycle you pull into the sunshine to go for a Sunday ride. It has a nicely balanced handling in SC. I use my old Mamba for trips like going to the roof of the galaxy for a gaze and a cigarette. Probably can't reach the new station up there with ~40 ly jump range. In the current build, I offer 1 or 2 ly jump range to have dirty drags and a proper boost interval. Just because you have to have the biggest dirty drags available for canyons etc. :)

Today, I headed over to Dav's Hope (only ~200LY trip), as I was reading about it yesterday.
On the system map, using Orery view, I couldn't see the planets for all the FC's parked there.
Once I'd done a full FSS it showed lots of Pirate activity and I also noticed several 'Checkpoints'. Not sure what the 'Checkpoints' were, was thinking they could be some form of race beacons, but they were threat level 3 (and I was helpfully reminded that was 3 levels above my combat ranking), so I left them alone.
Maybe I should get a combat ship and start on that side of things for a bit.

But... but... but... what to put in those freed up slots?
More guardian shield thingies ;) The small ones use more power per MJ of shield, but their weight/performance is better. Btw. It's not that I diz the ADC. I use it myself. It's just that I really like the way the Mamba handles/feels. It's heavier than the Vulture, but it does pack a punch.

Btw. They used to gank me and laugh. Well, say hello to my little friend 💥:alien:💥
