Crossing the Trojan Belt, heading roughly N.E., i entered the region known as Dryman's Point, where almost immediately I encountered a new life form, the Peduncle Tree. This area is heavily infested with these strange behemoths and their asociated pods, which reacted to my headlamps by jetting away quite fast.(The peduncle trees themselves did not appear to react to any stimuli i could apply). So numerous were they that they appeared in almost every system through which i passed, often in two or three separate locations within the system.

I adjusted my heading to N.W. and continued toward the Sagittarius Carina Arm, which i crossed into about the middle of December. Sightings of Peduncle Trees continued for some way into this sector before finally petering out, and i was once again left alone in the vastness of the inky dark.
All went well as i traversed this sector, following the spiralling arm where star density was quite reasonable for my 45ly jump range, picking up several water worlds and the occasional earthlike, and progress was good, if uneventful.

It was not until shortly after i crossed into Mare Somnia that disaster struck in the form of loss of SRV, occasioned by bouncing a little too heavily down the side of a prominence thrust upward from the centre of a crater.

After checking various sources for information on the whereabouts of carriers which would be able to alleviate my distress, I decided to continue on to my original destination, the ISF Mandy's Rest B6L-LOZ, some 10,000 ly's away on the fringes of Mare Somnia arriving safely at the end of last week.

This can be fixed, if you're patient and don't mind opening the stick. My Thrustmaster T16000 has started to act up-the yaw axis now drifts on its own constantly. Now I had to disable this function in order to use the controller at all.
Lieutenant 62%.Fed rank currently Ensign 55%, expecting this to move quickly without paying it much attention now.
Yeah, it's dead. No worries!
Wow. That was a major decision! Despite my initial misgivings about carriers, I don't think I have the cajones to decom mine. Not that I actually want to.I have set the FC Rune Lon Gah on self destruct. Mostly to get all my credits back, approx just over 5B crds cause I left some stock on board.
Bulk transport was such a chore to load and unload. Not being a generous sole I was always priced to high. So not many helpers , even in the bubble.
Consolidated to three good ships, 2 Krait Mk2 and one cutter. Kicked young Sergi of the FC , he is now running a krait Mk2 trying to make trade credits.
Did you watch the Burr pit base assault video? reminds me of the scene of star destroyers appearing over the rebel base.
So, I guess we are going to have fleets of FC's loaded with bombers and fighters. dropping in over a base for all out civil wars.
Player/squadron faction vs player/squadron faction.
Me, I am just going to take my credits, may be up to 12B, and work out how to do a Forest Gump run across the bubble when odyssey drops.

Thank you for the advice. Other than the yaw issue, I really like this HOTAS. I also ordered a pair of CH pedals to try to use the rudder with them. This can be fixed, if you're patient and don't mind opening the stick.
Often, just opening the stick and removing them reseating the potentiometer fixes the problem for a while. The solder contacts can sometimes sprout "hairs," too, which can cause drift. You can clean those by just rubbing your thumb gently over the contacts. A dab of hot glue over the contact pads prevents it from happening again.
Yeah, I had three goes at making this decision. Hope to come back to an FC after we see how they work with odyssey.Wow. That was a major decision! Despite my initial misgivings about carriers, I don't think I have the cajones to decom mine. Not that I actually want to.
But rep to you for doing so as it didn't work for you!
Yes I'm with you there. I'm not interested in a Carrier as currently done, but something smaller although still very large, maybe which could take just small ships or something, but which I could pilot myself, would very much appeal. In the meantime, I'll content myself with dreams of a large Alliance ship and maybe a Boa!!Yeah, I had three goes at making this decision. Hope to come back to an FC after we see how they work with odyssey.
A smaller Explorer class ship, a half size FC may be better for travelling in the black.
Taking a break from the combat grind to engage in another form of grind: tritium mining. It's much more efficient to buy the stuff from profits gained from other pursuits, I know, but it's also quite relaxing. If frustrating at seeing such poor percentages - if it's over 20%, I feel blessed..
I like gettinf in really close (if I can) and watching all those lovely fragments bounce off my windshield. I do get a sinking feeling, though, when I hear "Collector limpet expired".
Ooh! Lookie! A core! What? Bromellite? Gah.
Also, we need a "roid anti-spin limpet controller".
About 80how much you getting in an hour?
Nothing. In this ring where there is almost a trit overlap, there are zero LTDs...yea ok that is a bit meh, what else do you get alongside tritium ?
