Ok so im particularly dense ... how are we getting the sector numbers for the asteroid belt?

You catch an asteroid, turn it over, and read the serial number! 😁

Seriously, I found I needed a numbering scheme when I first started to investigate the asteroid clusters, so I devised one: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-quest-to-find-raxxla.168253/post-8923413

How did I determine where the top was? Well, I made a decision. 😉

Marcos’ finding that the belt is rotating may of course impact this numbering scheme. I had spotted that between the time I took that snapshot to apply a numbering scheme and later shots/videos (after I had spotted and started investigating the green glows) that the sectors on the orrery view seemed to have rotated a little, but thought it was just me with a bad camera angle. It may be that the orrery view sectors themselves are rotating to match the belt rotation. Don’t know if anyone’s investigated that. 🙂

Some sterling research work on the green glows and orrery view apparent positional jumping has been done by the Independent Raxxla Hunters over the last few days and I’m really grateful for their efforts. It is looking like the green glows may be due to a lighting bug that appears after switching back from the orrery view to normal view. It has now been observed in a couple of other systems than Sol, so I think that lays the green glow phenomenon to rest. It was an interesting and promising diversion in my theory but has not disproven it.

Edit: I’ve updated my original theory post (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-quest-to-find-raxxla.168253/post-8911441) but I’m too close to it to decide if it still makes sense. Perhaps someone else could read though it & give me feedback?

I still think there is something hidden in Sol and that the Raxxla logo is a hint at that. I shall continue to investigate!

In my opinion, we are somewhere very close.

The raxxla logo is not a map, as I said, but it is an allusion to the Sol system.
I really liked the idea that the stroke line is an engineering technique - to show what is hidden.

But, the Raxxla logo does not have a specific explanation of the position of the desired object (we do not know what Raxxla is). Perhaps you should look for hints somewhere else, for example in the text of the codex.
Even despite the green glow in other systems, I am sure that the presence of it in Sol is not just a bug. I guess I'd like to believe that.

At the moment, I'm halfway out of Bovomit sector. I can't wait to test a couple of my guesses and theories, which I will definitely tell you about here if they give a result.

I've done a search around Jupiter's orbit for Trojans and Greeks; and also searched for Hildas, they must all be hidng in a wooden horse cos I didnt find any sign!

I keep pondering the "Hidden on the Outer RIm" mission that disappeared. If it's not hidden in the outer rim of the asteroid belt then it could be further out. Kuiper Belt? Persephone??
I'm not convinced that the three arcs represent the Hilda asteroids, or Greeks or Trojans. But maybe the hexagon is a nod to Saturn's hexagon? That was was discovered during the Voyager mission in 1981 so FD/DB were aware of it when programming ED.

All this reminds me of current efforts of astronomers all over the world toward finding the elusive "Planet nine" or "Planet X" which affects orbits of TNOs. I can't remember: were they were in ED from the very beginning or were they added later? Also, am I the only one that sees 6 ASP-X's facing out on this logo?

No, you're not alone :) But it doesn't really matter.

Persephone is ED’s “planet 10”, and to my mind suspiciously brightly lit for something that’s so far from the sun. Han_Zen’s got a better memory than me, but I think originally only out to Pluto was implemented & then the TNOs (Pluto is actually the first TNO) were added later.

Edit: mmm, Han_Zen must be out skiing. Found the patch note though:

I'd go first for Kuiper Asteroid Belt
1. It's solar system outer rim;
2. Eddb website shows mass equals 1 moon;
3. Not a lockable/targatable location.

It would be even worth to call for a mass search throughout the Sol system.
Maybe can organize one for March 14th starting at 17:00h (game time)

Ok, I’ll bite, what’s special about March 14th? (Edit: UK Mothering Sunday)

I think searching the Kuiper belt will take more than an evening. It starts at Neptune’s at 30AU and goes out to 50AU. That’s an awful lot of area to search!!!

But I’d say if we’re talking about the outer rim of the solar system for location of Raxxla, which has been in-game since the gamma, then around Pluto is more likely. That was the outer rim at the time, and I don’t think they’d move it when they added the TNOs.

But I’m convinced the Raxxla logo is a clue. Still think it’s Sol, but can’t see how it says Pluto, or anything else for that matter. It’s not speaking to me!

Only thing I can find is this.... lool

Dantes Divine Comedy ... is divided into 3 parts... Each part comprising 33 cantos

While Virgil guides Dante through Hell and Purgatory... Beatrice guides him through Paradise

Dantes pilgrimage is a spiral path based on Platonic theory (Music of the Spheres)

The relationship of Dante and Beatrice (I keep wanting to call her Bernice) is ..certainly a similar relationship to that of Phillip Sidney and Lady Penelope

just some thoughts...

Meh
It’s ok, but I wouldn’t say it’s divine
And comedy? Couldn’t see one “knock knock” joke anywhere!
😁
Spiral?? Is it hexagonal? That’s what I want to know!

Nothing special about 14th of March for us here in Brazil.
I just picked a random Sunday about a month from now so we have time to prepare...
But hey, people will find the face of some celebrity on a pancake.

Mid Feb I shall post a thread about it here on the forums trying to show more or less what we will be looking for and a Discord channel so we can have some voice comms for an eventual Eureka moment

It's Pi-day and also coincide with my birthday 🎂
