The desync and massive server lag isn't quite as bad since the 3.12.2 patch dropped...but it's still a major annoyance we all have to put up with. The servers seem to hit massive lag spikes about 10 minutes before they 30k now...like they're trying to recover then eventually just give up and crash out. The 30k's are certainly a lot less prevalent, but they still happen way too often.Cool
One thing I would say is try and group up with someone else, get in the same location? Because it really does seem to be a force multiplier with a lot of this stuff. (I know you do that anyway, but would be interesting to see if there’s an uptick in issues when you hook up etc).
Well nah, because the guy said from the outset he’s running on a weak rig. And nobody would play regularly if they had to deal with all of that.
There’s some obvious stuff he does that vets likely wouldn’t do too. Or at least not often. Like trying to use the hover bikes for a start. They’re pretty known to be sketchy in both transport and use right?
Other stuff seems to be part of the general swell and fall of prominent bugs though, like the massive desync, which seems to be a thing right now,
But you see enough tales of woe from baffled noobs and frustrated vets about the place, about hitting bundles of issues, that it still doesn’t seem exactly unusual. I guess the guys that don’t get a critical mass of them keep playing. And the others, don’t...
I've been playing recently in a small group of 2 to 4 of us, depending who's online and when...Two of us from north of Hadrian's wall, one from Berlin and the other from over the pond in Wyoming...of all places. Most of my usual sidekicks are all playing Valheim whilst waiting for 3.13 PTU or the Odyssey Alpha to start.
I'll try to get us all on together and do the stuff we normally do, mostly faffing about in ROCs. Since the others are fairly new to SC, I usually supply the ships to get the 4 of us all in the same place with loaded up ROCs...which is a Herculean task on it's own...almost like herding cats with electric cattle prods...
Last night was a classic Star Citizen arena of errors with me spawning a Valkyrie for the other 2 and discovering for some reason it still had 2 ROC's in the back from a session nearly a week ago. We couldn't get them out of the back of it even after trying everything we knew how. The ROCs were unplayable, probably since both of us who owned them had claimed new ones from the terminal where we were making them duplicates. The ship (with the ROCs) eventually despawned on it's own accord whilst sitting on a landing pad on a planet meaning I had to leave the MSR I was in for the other 2 guys and their ROC's, suicide...respawn at the refinery hab, go spawn another fresh MSR I knew was empty then head back down to the moon we were all mining on, driving the ROC's inside all to go off mining again.
That escapade wasted nearly an hour...as much as it produced some hilarity when we decided to land outside the no-fly zone and attempted to throw grenades in the back of the Valk trying to dislodge the offending and unresponsive ROC's. I'm glad we all had medpens handy
We all have varying net connection speeds and PC builds with the Wyoming kid having the worst connection (6 down and less than 2 up) and my Scottish mate having possibly the worst PC build ever to come out of the Bronze age. As much as the connection issues, bugs and general SC foibles allow, we usually have fairly decent sessions... The voice chat is painful to the ears though, especially with two of us of being Scots...how the other two understand a single word my Scottish mate utters is completely beyond me...his accent is brutal.
There's a joke in there somewhere, 2 Scotsmen, a random German dude and a damn Yankee walked into a bar...
