Hi,

I bought the game Elite Dangerous on Instant-Gaming, I downloaded it (20 Gb), but I cannot play with it because when I launch it from Steam, an Elite Dangerous window opens and ask me to login or register. I create a new account on the Frontier Store website, and when I launch the game with Steam, the same launcher appears, so I log into it, and it emails me email verification, I copy the code, I paste it in the launcher, and the launcher tells me to purchase or redeem the game Elite Dangerous that I already bought ... This is a vicious circle. It's driving me mad.

I am exhausted, I wanted to relax after a hard day, that is why I bought a new video game ... But now that stresses me out. I want to have fun, not getting upset !!

My ex-girlfriend gave up playing video games saying "Playing a new game featured 89% fixing launching issues + other bugs and 11% to really play the game. No pleasure" ... I start thinking she was right.:cry::cry::cry:

The first thing I'd suggest is to not buy games from sites like that.

The second thing is to create a support ticket with Frontier and they will do their best to help.

Ummm ... Sorry but Instant-Gaming is a very serious website. It is a very famous and trustful one ... So it is not one of the "sites like that" you talked about.

I will create a support ticket with Frontier (but that is not easy : my birth language is not English)

Uhm... Odyssey hasn't been released yet. Did you by the pre-order Odyssey? The one that will have Alpha access in three weeks?

It hasn't yet been released ? So ... what did I download (a 20 Gb file) on Steam ?... Please, don't tell me this is only the launcher !!:eek::eek:

No, I did not buy it in pre-order, it was not written "Demo" or "Launcher", or "Pre-Order", or anything else than "Elite Dangerous"

What I mean is the developer often doesn't get any money because the keys the sites sell are ones that have been gifted.

I do not know if it is a Steam problem or a Frontier problem, but from what you said if it is the Frontier launcher that is telling you to buy the game then it will be a Frontier ticket. If it is on Steam itself, then it will be Steam you need to create a ticket with.

Ah, okay : I understand, but the main problem is demerialized games ... Now, as a player (with no job, and really not much money), of course I am looking for ways to buy at the lowest costs and perfectly legally, so that is not very surprising some people prefer to buy on Intant-Gaming rather than somewhere else ... I don't want to waste my money if I don't know if I'll be satisfied with the game, but when I am, I pay the higher cost for it. For instance, I bought the Mass Effect trilogy in DVD version, several times and directly from the devs, to thank them for their work and encourage them being such creative as they've been for that trilogy. I never do it before knowing the game.

Yes, you're right ... So, I need to create a support ticket with Frontier. I'll do it. Thank you very much, Ozric ;) (y)

Hi,

I tried but I actually cannot ... In order to create a support ticket with Frontier, I must find the redeem code on Steam. I don't know how to find it. Considering what I found on the web, it seems all advices published are about an old Steam interface, so I cannot find what I am supposed to find that way ... I explored each single corner of my Steam account, but I did not succeed in finding the redeem code of my game ...

I imagine that you could find it from the email you got from the site you brought the game from. Or maybe on their website if they're stored there. That's the code that you had to enter into Steam to be able to download the game.

I don't use Steam to play Elite, but this page suggests that if you were to make a report through Steam they would expect the same thing.

goto steam libray page right click its icon goto manage then click cd keys option if avail?
as my f12010 has an option for keys and possibly could be the same for this game
alternatively the tiny games menu top left of the home page has product activation etc

Thank you, Ozric. If, in my case, this is the key provided by Instant-Gaming, I already found it, but it has got 3 parts of 5 characters, each of the 3 parts is separated by a dash, but on the website of Elite Dangerous, they want 5 parts, not three ... And when I enter my code, it does not work.

It shows different possibilities to clicfk on :

• Key is not in correct format.
(my key worked on Steam, so it should be a correct one)

• We require your firstname and surname.
(not on that page, it only requires my email address and my password)

• Email addresses do not match
(Yes, it does. Or at least it should)

• Passwords do not match
(Yes, my password do. It is memorized in my browser)

• Please complete the CAPTCHA to prove you are a Human and not a Thargoid
(I did it, and that's okay : I'm not a bot)

• Email address and/or password was incorrect
(They asked me that question twice, and the answer remains the same : Yes, they both are correct)

(See below to see the page I reached)

That's exactly what I found on the web with screencaps sometimes, but that is inaccurate. The screencaps featured old Steam interface and I looked everywhere and it was impossible to find the so called "CD" key on Steam (certainly because I did not buy the game on Steam, but I bought the Steam key on Instant-Gaming)

The only thing I can offer is that the game is worth all this hassle.

My ex-girlfriend gave up playing video games saying "Playing a new game featured 89% fixing launching issues + other bugs and 11% to really play the game. No pleasure" ... I start thinking she was right.:cry::cry::cry:
