Ill be on this evening Ill get it then and post.

Just so this post isnt wasted Ill give a link to a route that covers a lot of the mysteries in ED but not all of them. Can change the start system and re-plot. They are mostly the start point and not the end point so see whats unusual in that system and check it out....

I feel it could be with in the range of Tau Ceti due to it already being legend by the time "Cora came home soused..." but also think it could be anywhere due to how misjumps could send you anywhere (allegedly) but we can't miss jump.

(snip)

I am in agreement about Sol could be a likely place
A candidate for the possibility of a misjump could be "being pulled from witch-space by a Thargoid" but that just lands you in the system that you start the jump in and at a random distance from the main star so may not be classed as a misjump, who knows?

It could be that you need to be pulled by a Thargoid in a certain system to be in an hidden area of that system that you would never find by any normal means. Might be worthwhile searching the immediate vicinity of such an occurrence when the Goids high wake out of there.

Imagine being pulled by a Thargoid and being dropped out of witch-space in the vicinity of the (hidden, stealthed or whatever) RAXXLA station (or whatever it is?) only a few mm away from you and you didn't have a clue it was even there in the first place and just went about your business just moving on to your original destination.

Right but they didn't call it planet 9 or put it in the 9th position. So you can see how one might assume it was supposed to be 399 Persephone. I doubt there will ever be clarification on this. Also 399 Persephone is supposed to be a main belt asteroid. With all the recent speculation on the missing belt I thought this could be a missing asteroid. That's when I noticed the earth masses Persephone is listed to be (in game) and it started me wondering about it.

I'm not an astrophysicist or even have a college education so bare with me here. 🤷‍♂️

It was stated that Persephone was Planet 9 when it was added:

"- Added Persephone (Planet Nine), Haumea, Makemake, Eris, Orcus, 2002 MS4, Salacia, Quaoar, 2007 OR10 and Sedna to Sol"

From 2.2 patch notes.

I've also noticed that when the game crashes out mid jump it places you in a random, typically far out location in the destination system as opposed to the main star. I've been able to repeat this by hard closing the game during the jump while in Witchspace

Come to think of it, I've had this happen as well in the past quite a few times while out in the black exploring but never gave it a second thought. I think it may lay weight to the possibility of misjumps in game.

Not sure of the date. Memory hexedited and all that. Around the time of the start of the Formidine Rift threads or shortly after. I think it first appeared in that thread. For a brief time he used it as his account icon as "The Dark Wheel" on the forums too IIRC, until he was asked not to, which then led to CoR being created as he couldn't use Dark Wheel.
Nice - ya I couldnt remember if he started the CoR as well or what.

On the theory of a misjump, is it possible when you're pulled by a Thargoid that you get dropped in the destination system rather than the system you initiate the jump in?
I have only noted when this happens that you are in the jump initiation system not the destination system.

Or it could be another mechanism to cause a misjump that lands you in the destination system at a now apparent not so random destination in that system.

Ah, Galnet today
“the Adamastor had a sister ship – the Hesperus – which in 3113 was sent to… somewhere!”

So, anyone good at star patterns? We need a search location! (is that Orions Belt to the right of the star in the glare? maybe Castor & Pollux in the left corner?)

P.s. there was shooting on the Adamastor before Prof Carver ducked out. I had assumed the “relics” that expedition had gathered included a Goid which wasn’t actually dead, it recovered & started attacking. Now it seems that they had a UA or something that possibly caused madness...but the Galnet post says investigation showed an attack by human weapon at the expedition site, so skulduggery!
