I always map everything, thats why I take so long to get anywhere :) so orbital cruise altitude I will find anyway if thats how it works* and know to drop out of SC to get it in Nav Panel when it finds the signal, but the asteroid belt one I dunno. Have asked on that thread now anyway as would be good for us all to know how the tools work and like I said itll be a while for me to get there to confirm or deny it.

*I should have asked for an example for that Orbital Cruise one as not really sure what they meant and could have gone and looked for myself to find out. Might explain a few 'bugs' I've seen occasionally.....just wish Id recorded where now instead of 'oh bug' and moved on lol

I'm sorry I disagree about the Odyssey. Yes it has no hints, but the textures (I do not believe that all the textures are replaced in the Odyssey relative to the main game)
And most importantly, the algorithm works. It is just being tested in the Odyssey. And just how I think that the announcement of any mystery does not mean that it is in the game until we find it. If anyone is interested, I can explain it on the example of the mission repair energy in the settlement.

Who has even 1 rumor in the codex ?

Just an out of box approach. The whisperer in witch space. In Greek mythology, Pheme is known to be personification of rumours and whispers.

And also there is a project, which is also called Pheme, and oh boy this is very interesting to read. Just one paragraph from their website:
We are concentrating on identifying four types of phemes and modelling their spread across social networks and online media: speculation, controversy, misinformation, and disinformation. However, it is particularly difficult to assess whether a piece of information falls into one of these categories in the context of social media. The quality of the information here is highly dependent on its social context and, up to now, it has proven very challenging to identify and interpret this context automatically.

Here is their site: https://www.pheme.eu/
Look at logo :)
This site is created in 2014 and funded 4.3 m €

Conclusion: They have created this lab rat cage and expecting us to put a solid theory out of it

I'm sorry, that's not what I meant.
When they made the Codex in the game, they wrote that there are three sections in the galaxy map.
Rumors - I can not understand how they appear there and did not see there any.
Objects - if someone from the kmdr something will find that at once all see it.
Confirmed - if you found it yourself.
This is divided by region.

I know you did not meant it bro. But your comment made me think about pheme and all the rumors, wild theories, conclusions, this tin foil madness sea.
And i love your translator misunderstandings, it creates tiny Chaos pockets in order.

While they could arguably have just got the destination directly in Chukchan, there’s lots of crew on a megaship, and people talk. Keeping the actual destination secret from the crew until part way into the journey makes a lot of sense - it’s to ensure the actual destination doesn’t get somehow leaked.

That makes perfect sense to me.

And going in the BL direction initially means that anyone who gets the initial flight plan will think the ship is heading to a destination in that direction, and won’t think it’s going to the Coalsack. I think that’s getting very well demonstrated by the fact that people are convinced that the Adamastor was going to something in the BL direction. The deception demonstrably worked.

The secret base stuff is just a conclusion loads of people jumped to.

What was said in the logs from the Coalsack site was that Carver had been told that the Adamastor was going to transport them to a secure facility.

There was never anything to say the secure facility wasn’t in Chukchan, that was just an assumption.

Even if the secure facility was somewhere else, that’s then to do with where the Adamastor was going after the Coalsack, not before.

And there’s nothing to say that if there was a secret secure facility at the point that it would still be round in a discoverable form now.

It’s probably best to bear in mind with all this that it was basically a new team doing it, it was their first puzzle event, and was new to a lot of them, and really the best way to consider it is as a pilot event.
You’re right, assumptions were made and they misled me.

I don’t accept your explanation based on need for mission secrecy. In submarine missions the Captain gets sealed orders, he opens them after sailing, nobody else knows until he tells the XO and Navigator, they tell nobody, the navigation table is hidden from view. However the Hesperus part of the puzzle has given me a sensible explanation- both Hesperus and Adamastor were actually tasked with deploying LP. After deploying the LP in Synuefe XE-Y c17-7 Adamastor received her diversion order from that LP. Makes perfect sense! The problem and solution then have logical consistency. Still a bit unsure about the return journey to HIP 69200 which seemed to depart from the straight line route to Chukchan (yes, the “secure facility” threw me but it makes sense for it to be at the home of Azimuth Biochemicals), but accept that could be down to the hyperdrive acting up due to the presence onboard of a UA, or even by sabotage since there is some possibility of that from the Site 23B and Adamastor logs.

I have enjoyed this puzzle, although I came to it late and missed important information. I’m glad FD are trying to improve the puzzles, and happy to accept that a new team attempting that can make mistakes. But to be able to correct mistakes they need feedback about what is working and what isn’t. I may have sounded grumpy with some of my posts, but don’t men to be.

FD FEEDBACK: I don’t have time IRL to watch weekly hour long live-streams; FD PLEASE follow up live-streams with a précis forum post in (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/livestream-announcement-thread.517121/) your livestream announcement thread! And Canonn’s Discord is NOT the right place to be monitoring and giving feedback; Canonn are just one player group and not everyone is a member of Canonn. FD YOU NEED TO SET UP YOUR OWN ED DISCORD CHANNEL!! It would be the ideal place for us to ask questions (you don’t need to answer!), solve puzzles where you could monitor what’s happening (you would probably find it mightily amusing!)

Oh and @Vetinari et al, please post a link here if a new thread has been set up to explore a puzzle. Missed out on this puzzle because I didn’t know the Adamastor Update thread had been set up (I’ve been very busy IRL recently so less time to browse). Enjoyed reading through their posts last night though. I don’t understand cryptography and I’m not much of a mathematician but it was interesting to follow the reasoning.

There is a reason behind my ranting on about this. In this thread we’re trying to solve what may be the biggest puzzle there is in ED. So the logical correctness of puzzles is extremely important. We enjoy theorising about possible solutions to Raxxla and it’s location based on the few scraps of information we have. It’s what makes this thread fun, plus the light-hearted banter. If Raxxla has been inserted in-game in a location Independent from and entirely without relevance to the few clues we have available then it would be grossly unsatisfactory. It would be like reading a murder thriller and then finding on the last page that it was committed by someone who has not appeared in the rest of the book and for no relevant reason.

This is my favourite thread too; I view it as the spiritual successor to the old Canonn threads (e.g. UA Mystery threads) where the cameraderie exhibited was amazing, as it is here. We help each other out, we gently throw eggs if we see something obviously wrong, but it is never with antagonism or ill-feeling or aggression (those I block). We treat trolls and weird ideas reasonably politely (though I’ve seen a couple of posters where I questioned their mental stability and wished there was a feedback route to raise questions and get them medical help).

I’ll get off my soap box, but keep up the fun guys! 🙂

My takeaway from the latest Adamastor / Hesperus event is that I can't rely on the FSS scanner showing what is in a system and every detail such as asteroid fields or similar have to be visually inspected. Fair enough, just thinking how much I have crossed off that I now have to go back and reconsider.
Yes, that was a major reveal. They hid one of the LPs so well that nobody spotted it. Someone apparently had been in that system and mapped a planet but had not spotted it. I wonder if it was “stealthed” like TDW station (& Raxxla perhaps??) so only detectable if very close?

They have a channel it's called GALNET, anything out of play should not be used.
It's a mystery to me why something from there doesn't get into the codex rumors.

My bad I thought someone had linked it, just checked and youre right, nobody did.

Well reading between the lines....Frontier told Canonn on Discord it was in an asteroid belt....in fact there was a lot of Comms between Frontier CM and Canonn on their Discord group that we never heard about here on the forums.....even though we did ask the questions. At least 2 Cmdrs on the Hesperus search thread had visited that system, think one of them mapped as well or said they FSSd everything, something more than honk n scoop anyway.

Yeah gl with that, you need to go on Canonn Discord to get a Frontier CM attention. I half-joked about it on Friday in a post here. Not laughing any more.

I tried to submit a private Support Ticket to complain, but couldnt work out their darn Ticket system and it kept throwing me around to the FAQ, so I started a public Bug Report. Link here if you want to add anything. At least hopefully someone will will read it.

I’ve added my two pennyworth! 😉
Yes, FD seem to view Canonn as the largest puzzle-focussed group. That may be true but they shouldn’t exclude other players who are trying to solve puzzles. I think I’m probably still officially a member of Canonn, but I stopped participating when they moved their activities off the forum and put it into their own Discord. I thought that was exclusionary and went against the whole purpose of the group.

Edit: mmm, I thought the Adamastor-Hesperus puzzle thread would cease activity after Hesperus was found, but looks like another 12 pages since last night (when I’d caught up!).
Something’s afoot /aclaw/ atentacle!
(Got to be PC and include our Thargoid friends/overlords! 😉)

Update: Asteroid Belts & FSS & Close Range (1,000 LS)

Its been confirmed by 2 people now at least that the POI for the Megaship did not show up on the FSS even when they zoomed in on that specific Asteroid Belt. p50 of the Adamastor / Hesperus thread I posted above. Also didnt show within 1,000 LS like the old hidden objects, actually had to drop out of SC at the specific Belt to see it.

So things can be hidden in Belts that dont show on FSS, at least Megaship sized anyway, and its engine was active so not 'turned off' or silent.

Its doubtful imo (or is that hopeful) that Raxxla could be hidden in a Belt but now certainly not impossible now depending on what it is. But it is entirely possible that a low power station could be hidden there and if the Codex is believed then thats what the DW station is. So it seems that there may be more to the Belts than previously thought and things are certainly hidden there not visible from FSS or SC at all. Don't know the 'maximum' size of an object that can be hidden, may depend on the size and number of asteroids in the belt, but at least Megaship sized and in principle they could hide anything there and not make it appear.

At least we know now for sure one way or the other. The FSS is not 'infinite' as MB said and I understood it, it** does not resolve everything, just 99.99%....and that 0.01% is possibly where the DW Station and Raxxla are. Still not certain but almost certainly adds credence to it as a good hiding place not to appear on scanners.

There may be other stuff out there as well in the Belts, but to reiterate, you need to physically go to the Belt and drop out of SC at each one to have a chance of finding them if they are there, there is no other way for the scanners to pick it up.

gl :)

**Edit: MB was on about ADS not FSS, my addled brain confused that bit.

And there may very well be other things in the belts that have been lurking undiscovered for some time. Zac made a comment yesterday about how long he had been waiting for someone to find the Hesperus/Scriveners (on Canonn Discord of course) implying that it had been there for quite some time (perhaps since the Adamastor or perhaps even older).

Right, off to get caffeinated and catch up on the Adamastor thread.

@Vetinari So you need to drop out at each belt cluster? No signal to indicate there’s anything to be visited otherwise? Does make a bit of a nonsense of the FSS (though it was the advanced scanner that MB said was infinite range! Didn’t believe that either!! 😉)

I still think Raxxla is likely to be hidden in Sol’s asteroid belt, but we can’t find the asteroid “clusters”, other than by an indication in the hud but nothing there when we drop. Sounds like my suspicion is correct-Raxxla May be god/dess of the RNG function!

As far as I remember astronomy, a large number of asteroids are not only in the asteroid belt, but also in the orbit of Jupiter and Mars. The so-called Trojans.

Oh for Gods sake!

I assumed Hesperus had been put in there and Adamastor LP woke up when Hesperus salvaged or something just for the mystery started on Thursday.

Can you do me a favour and screenshot everything Zac said thats relevant? May as well get all the salt out of the way now about what we havent been told that a private player group have. Maybe start a new thread and just repost there, I know its a massive PITA and too much to ask but my laptop freezes when I try and use Discord so I got no chance and hopefully others will join in and repost as well.

Or tell him the forum community is not impressed and not happy and could he please copy / paste his comments and vital game information and updates here as well...or in game...or on Twitter or Reddit or one of the official Frontier sites that dont need a separate program to run. This is gonna turn into a massive sh-storm before they even realise how much damage they have done...again....repeatedly.

@Vetinari So you need to drop out at each belt cluster?

Yep, fraid so, so that will be fun :) I take long enough mapping now I got this as well.

To: Quest/secret raxxla communications/

There was another megaship found recently? Hesperus? That's so nice.

Still on a holiday cruise, I think we are reaching Xibalba soon. I love Xibalba. Had grilled tiger prawns yesterday. I think the cruise may be affiliated with Canonn in some way, being called the Comfy Canonn Cruise, but I don't know how many really are members. People speak about duelling with stock Sidewinders and such things, and I'm merely using the Canonn decal from building the Gnosis times to apply for special offers at the tax free shop. It's lovely weather out here, and you can really see the Milky Way, like, all of it at once.

Can you do me a favour and screenshot everything Zac said thats relevant?
I'll try later today, on my phone and offline for the next few hours. Like Jorki, I was surprised a few weeks ago to discover that I was still a member and had access, esp. after the Great Zoltan-Clavain Supernova of 3303 or thereabouts.

Or tell him the forum community is not impressed and not happy and could he please copy / paste his comments and vital game information and updates here as well....
I suspect he is getting that message via the other thread and the various complaints.
