Whatever, NZ has Chamois, Lynx, I prefer Caracal, I prefer Asian Deer, there are similar Ibex in Asia, badger? Rather see Ratels and Wolverines, American Badger looks better. The others are just reaching.
I personally prefer they don’t waste half a year on Europe when you have the rest of the world to choose from. It’s probably that I am European myself and see most European animals as nothing more than farm animals.
Seriously, I don't get this thing about undervaluing European animals. I won't advocate for tons of European animals being added because, indeed, most continents have a way more diverse fauna. I won't even bother making comparisons with Oceania, South America, Asia and Africa.
But come on, this notion that NA fauna is far superior than Europe fauna is nonsense, because there is not much difference, really. Also, the argument about Europe lacking endemic animals doesn’t make any sense either. Afaik, Frontier has never intended to only add endemic and very unique animals in PZ. But even if they did, NA fauna is not more endemic nor diverse than European fauna, lol.
When people (including me) suggest a NA DLC, they always include the cougar and they usually include moose, wolverine, Arctic fox, musk ox, a species of peccary, etc. all of which are not endemic to NA. Some people also include groundhog, North American beaver, river otter, American badger, elk, whitetail deer, mule deer, bobcat, Canadian lynx, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, etc. In Europe we have Alpine marmot, Eurasian beaver, Eurasian otter, European badger, red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, Iberian lynx, Eurasian lynx, mouflon, Alpine ibex, etc. In this very last group, caprids, there are more in Europe than in NA: the latter two plus Iberian ibex, chamois, Pyrenean chamois, West Caucasian tur, East Caucasian tur, Wild goat. Literally only the Cali sea lion and the alligator are the only animals that stand out in NA. I don’t see how “there are similar ibex in Asia” is argument to include an Asian and not an European species. I also don’t see how Asian deers or American badgers “look better” than their European counterparts.
Only in my country, there are plenty of “big” endemic animals that would very easily make a decent PZ DLC: Iberian lynx, Iberian ibex, Pyrenean chamois, two species of hare, ocellated lizard. You could even consider the Egyptian mongoose, Barbary macaque, aoudad and Spanish imperial eagle (if flying birds are a thing) as potential options. And this is just one country.
Seeing European animals as farm animals?
I don’t know where you’re from, but in my country, going to the mountains or to out-of-the-way natural spots to enjoy the local wildlife has never felt like visiting a farm.
