Random thoughts about our Winking Cat friend again...
Path of the Winking Cat...
09 JUN 3304 - Steals Youscape from Alioth..... Youscape being a piece of art that alters itself based off of "viewer reactions" (so starts off hinting that the path is interactive?) Incidentally the artist who created Youscape is Barclay Uxor . The Name of the first system after Sol in the "Tour of the Universe" was Altuxor.... Altuxor also being the setting for the book "Where the Time Winds Blow"

20 SEP 3304 The New Dawn collection by Lal Candromir is stolen. New Dawn of course part of the ever present references to Horizon and probably the Morning Star. Lal Candromir.... reminds me of the earlier post about the Andromedaries... where they are pointing out the Camel / Andromeda constellation mentioned before. And of course the planet in the Altuxor system was named Kamelos... which was actually a reference to the Chameleon constellation I believe ... but maybe there is some confusion going on here....

01 JAN 3305 Giant Holoscupture of the Federation Symbol is stolen.... Have you looked at the Federation Symbol- What is it of? I always thought it was the first 4 planets in our solar system... but not sure now

FederationInsignia.png

14 FEB 3305 The stolen pieces include Rembrandt’s Self-Portrait with Two Circles (17th Century), Guernica by Picasso (20th Century) and Terra Absentia by Zoe Okeke (23rd Century) ... There is a hodgepodge of imagery here ... not sure what to make of it, but Kioko McGrath has an interesting last name... reminds me of an old Cobra.
31 AUG 3305 Penance Street by artist Megan Madigan is returned. Madigan meaning little dog... Canis Minor. Penance Street makes me think of a pilgrams path or possibly the sacred way.

Didnt see any overt references to the earlier holdstock books in the later cat thefts... perhaps this path diverges? But the last two thefts remind me of MBs tatoo and Drabble "The Space inbetween" Was thinking of it in relation to earlier greek idea of a purgatory... a celestial hades... somewhere inbetween earth and the fixed stars

Funny thing about Altuxor. It has a sea called the Paluberion Sea. So does Lave. :giggle:
Holdstock reuses that name, as well as the Raxxla name.

Ya i get the impression he had a fascination with Ideal Types.... he would pick up a theme and repeat it changing it throughout several books. Thats why I think that people who look at his Alien World or Dark Wheel for info on Raxxla might want to look at some of his earlier works to see how the ideas developed. ... Wonder what Paluberion refers to?

edit: Ah palus - latin for marshy.....

RE: Hidden objects in Asteroid Belts

Noticed this tonight, not a new LP but hidden in the belt B2. Theres an extra circle / shade around B2 like with Planets with Rings, possibly showing theres something there, compare it to A1 also on screen and notice the extra / difference. Might fit the 'tiny bit obvious' bit but havent been back to Hesperus LPs to check if same there or not.
Im thinking the same. Hesperus proved it is very likely and then you have asteroid stations and orbis in belts.

Im thinking the same.

Im dreading it :) But its more likely now than ever which is why Im clutching at straws trying to find anything that may point to / hint at something rather than visit every Belt in every system just to find nothing. So far afaik all Belt ones have been number 1, whether A1, B1 or C1 or whatever but can't hold to that and still cant bring myself to drop in on just them just in case. Hoping beyond reason that theres some sign, easily overlooked but something just to say 'This one is worth investigating by the way' if we know what to look for. Still havent been back to Hesperus ones though to check them out and even if they do then DW or Raxxla may not abide by the same rule...but its that or drop into every belt. All 16 of them round that L Star with nothing else in system at all and I can't, I just can't.

Hi, I've been reading through a few pages here and there. Many interesting theories and ideas!

I was wondering how likely it is that finding Raxxla is tied to discovering something with a specific ship. Would it be possible to limit finding answers to a parameter like that?
While I do agree with the gang that it is not likely, I nonetheless have a kitted out Cobra MKIII that I do most of my system investigations in, just in case!
Additionally, I try to just keep my eyes out for things while flying different ships... it can't hurt (until you start putting major time into it, which I have no intention of doing). :p

Have at it.. basically Sol seems to be the only place the beginning of the trail for Raxxla can be reliably followed given human timelines of expansion, technology development, etc. The signal that beget the Raxxla rumors appear to have been intercepted by the ancient probes in Sol by no later 2030 (NASA estimates all probes will be dead or unable to transmit back to Earth by 2030). This details how I got there and what are next steps. The alternative is the hyperspace probes but that requires magical superluminal communications which I cannot prove exist (though communication in-game appears to be superluminal given distances involved). This is meant to cover why the trail has to logically begin in Sol and what next steps of the investigation entail.

Next steps..
Re-evaluation of the systems tied to the unregistered communication beacons (i.e. the Thargoid rabbit-hole) and look for anything that will either lead to the group that has the permit or a story-line unlock to Polaris, and/or unlock a host of unknown permits near the immediate vicinity of Sol(including Triton). Basically, we need to know who knew what exactly and when and whether or not they represent a faction in the game or at least a potential leads on game mechanics to get into Polaris. Engineers who are involved with the Ryder family, Turner Family, and Argent family should be looked into closely to determine if any of the modifications can allow us to slip into the system undetected without having to find the permit holder. This involves any group that was involved in any fashion with terraforming, colonization, pharmaceutical companies (especially those related to Hesperus and Adamastor), as well as any group involved directly or indirectly in the acquisition of Thargoid technology or determining where the Thargoids were located. Not everything tied back to Sol can be fully explained at this point and we need leads to actually get into these unknown permits ASAP. Additionally, any corporation that has a history of acquisitions needs to be thoroughly investigated.

One other thing this was arrived at because the lore fundamentally limits possibilities by way of technology availability, communication, and known events...

Technically for the hyperspace probes to be viable we still require superluminal communications by early 22nd century. If you cannot count on that bit of "deus ex machina" then you are down to less than 39 LY from Sol (this assumes January 1st, 2101 launch) given the probes would still have to get the discovery back to Earth and it become widespread enough that it enters the public consciousness by the point Taylor colony gets reasonably self-sufficient (even that is a wildly optimistic assessment). I am not saying I know it is there just that the trail almost certainly starts at Sol and is likely in Polaris. It is just that any alternative explanations quickly run into logistical nightmares on the grounds of technical availability, insufficient time to transmit back and become part of public consciousness, and factors such as know start of certain sets of events. The fact that two of the ancient probes point at Polaris and therefore likely intercepted something seems the most plausible. I cannot tell if Voyager 2 is, in fact, fully random in how it moves or what. I think we have to find either something that makes permits history (some of MetaDrives research looked promising as far as a bypass means). MetaDrives research was copied given to Bill Turner in Alioth. Otherwise it is find who is connected to the permits. I truthfully hope the path forward is MetaDrive/Bill Turner and that leads to the end of all permits.

Couple of old 2014 broadcasts from @LaveRadio for @Jorki Rasalas thread, dunno if you got these already or not. First is DB at Inside Games Showcase, second is LR interview with DB afterwards. Nothing about Raxxla or DW, bit of background lore though, and the 'Hold on a minute David!' thought that comes from his description of landing on lush planets filled with animal life...that you can hunt and chop off the horns to sell! The mans a monster I tell you! Although he does say afterwards its to highlight the ethics of killing large animals for tiny bits of them, but by then its too late :) sound is a bit dodgy as they say themselves but perfectly audible.

>The crew go planetside to visit Frontier at the Inside Games Showcase event held by Bafta. We sit in on David Brabens talk about the current development cycle.

The crew go planetside to visit Frontier at the Inside Games Showcase event held by Bafta. We grab some time with the big guy himself David Braben and ask him some community questions

Have at it..

I like the emphasis on SUCCESSFUL colony - opportunities for failed colonies like the Gen Ships :) Also the Canes Venatici supervoid.... Canes Venatici aka kollorobos "the Club" of Bootes. I have been looking at the void in Eridanus ... who knows maybe there are multiple gates.... as above, so below?

This game is infuriating at times. Yesterday I traveled 30 mins to the new horizons probe in Sol and was carrying an AI relic, anyway I dropped it near the probe for no other reason than "reasons" and instantly a search and rescue ship dropped in, fired a limpet out, nicked it and started to jump out. I obviously shot at it and was carrying hatch breakers so fired some out which instantly spawned a couple of system security.

I obviously lost the relic, it's such a stupid "breaking" mechanic having ships appear out of no where, 3million LS away from the star.

AI is banned! Clearly they thought you were a Transformer! 😁

I am still under the impression that Raxxla is the area between hyperspace that you travel...A trip "everyone" has to make, which is in the game we just cant stop into the area yet, this area is always the same some variations are only depending on the rotation you take through it however even the new different looking version in Alpha is still the same variable rotation, where does the fsd bring you through to travel to stars and where its actual location is within the galaxy (has to be related with the creation of the fsd and where it was made within the core systems by Sirius corp) with the is the mystery as before fsd we had beacons, outpost etc navigated between systems which is still cannon yet they dont exist

2014 EGX appearance and presentation by DB between Beta 1 release & Beta 2 due a few days after.

Again talks about hunting animals on distant worlds but most interesting for us here talks about Ocellus Stations being designed to have engines fitted and 'driven' to the System for various reasons such as a gold-rush mining location....could explain the DW Station and may even suggest its moving within / between Systems, like some of the Gen Ships did before being discovered.
