Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

If they let us store more than 120 thingies I'd probably do the Blue-Haired Waifu "thang" and maybe Li's missiles but the idea of juggling other modules into a storage-ship to make space just seems such a bore. The other PSMs just don't have any draw for me.

Thing is though, aren't the bi-weaves better in terms of recharge times therefore getting you back into the fight quicker?
Yes but I don’t get back in, I win or retreat. The Vette can’t boost away to recharge, it’s too slow. I’m not there for a long fight. In a hazres my shields never drop. If needed I can reboot the ship and have 50% shields. Recharge time means very little for me in the Vette.

I am presently heading toward the bubble in order to cash in the discoveries of Phase 1 of the exploration trip to Mare Orientalis (MO), and to get ready when Odyssey launches on May 19. It takes me a couple of days to get to the bubble.

My present position is in the Norma Expanse region, about 25,000 LY from the bubble.

After I get to the bubble, I will get the enhanced FSD for my 5A FSD equipped ships, make some mods to the exploration Conda, get the exploration suit and materials, and hang around the bubble for a bit. Then it's off again to finish the work at MO.

My view on shields is that absolute strength shields such as standard or prismatic are for when you expect to get into only one fight at a time so there will be plenty of time for the shields to recover, bi-weaves are for when I anticipate getting into multiple fights in quick succession.

So combat builds get bi-weave as default while others get standard.

I haven't got prismatics because I don't feel comfortable doing PowerPlay just for the bonuses, if it remotely interested me as an activity I might have got them but so far I am happy not to have been tempted to play.

Hmm.

Perhaps I should try things out before misreading between the lines of a Reddit post!

No, that would be a Bi-weave shield. :)
Bi-weaves are weaker but recharge faster. Prismatics are stronger and recharge slower.
And I mean SERIOUSLY slower. If you engineer them for pure strength and add a couple of (also engineered) boosters, you can get way over 10k shields which is frankly ridiculous, but the recharge speed (down to full) of such shield can easily be over an hour.

You may well be right. I'm not a battle hardened vet with a thousand yard stare. Yet.

The thing I find awkward about combat is how quick my MC's empty. Maybe it's time for a different loadout.
I remember one time many many months ago when my MC's ran out of ammo but it's generally not a problem I think about. I've only had a short burst of taking massacre missions and I try not to mission board spam bounties I think will lead to long boring dogfights. Partly why I'm still a novice, no doubt.

Just left the bug killer site and got to thinking. When legs arrive, it wouild be neat if you could get some of these crate things opened (as long as the access panel doesn't fall inside the housing):

I would say that this is highly optimistic, bordering surreal.

However, they might surprise us - as in a pleasant surprise - with this.

Well.. that sounds even more surreal

I'll see myself out now, but i will revisit this thread on Thursday

While the Thargs are active, I jumped the FC to HIP 62154 with a full load of tritium.
Brought out all the stock of the lower priced competitors in the area and have set the price to double my credits.
Time will tell if I have cornered the market?? :sneaky::devilish::whistle::coffee:(y)

I've been going down the ship wiki rabbit hole after checking out the Python at a shipyward. I think I'd like a nice medium multi-role ship which is good in combat and pretty fast. Python, Krait II, or Krait Phantom? I'm leaning heavily towards the Krait II. It seems to be an all-round upgrade option for the Cobra in terms of multi-crew and module options. For when I'm not as concerned about manoeuvrability and speed, that is.

Plus I think the Krait II generally looks pretty than than Phantom, inside and out. The Phantom looks like weird squished Enterprise without those stacked engines.

The Python is my favourite ship at the moment. I keep buying the Krait II, kitting it out and then selling it. Not sure what it is about the Krait, horses for courses, I suppose.
