Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 4

Isolated incident in terms of my experience. I have the update, it installed perfectly. I just can't get in game after clicking to start an open play session.

Version 4.0.0.500 reading.

Can confirm. Had Version 4.0.0.500 before verifying, still have it after. Orange Sidewinder continues.

SOLUTION FOR STEAM USERS:

• Start Launcher from Steam
• Launcher Options-> ED Cache disabled!
• Launcher Options -> Validate Game Files
• Launch Oddyssey and play

Yep, no problem. Also adding a confirmation here that this did fix the Orange Sidewinders/Infinite Loading issue for me.

In my case it helped to log in with Horizons to teleport out of an Odyssey Settlement. Now I can start Odyssey without the orange snakes. Hope it helps somebody else too.

I tried this, but the launcher is stuck on "Perparing for Update" now.... ... nothing works...

Patience, it takes a long time but eventually updates and the game runs ok

@sallymorganmoore if I remember correctly, it was said on the last supercruise news that the dark space background will be fixed in update 4. But I don't see it.

For those stuck on "Preparing for Update", go to the launchers options dropdown and uncheck "Enable cache check", then restart the launcher (force quitting if necessary) and retry the validation process from the launcher.

I had problems launching the game after Steam patched it. Checking Gamefiles from within the launcher triggered some downloads. to me, this looks like some files were missing/not updated via steam? Just wanted to add this, cause it helped me. Can play now.

This worked for me also. 100% confirmed.

Tried verifying files via Steam and nothing happened, constant Orange Sidewinder and no extra downloads.

I verified my game via the Launcher and it downloaded some files and now I can play again. Thanks CMDR.

I'm in! Validating the game files from within the ED Launcher worked for me.

I updated with ED Launcher and it updated files, and it working now so i guess the steam version is broken.

AI that are criminals in the local system will now always be assigned to the 'Pirate' faction, to stop criminal factions being adversely affected within the BGS.

If they're 'pirate faction' then will the kills count towards mission target, for missions invovling the criminal faction specifically? (E.g. 'RAID: Exterminate members of Thingamy Cartel')
