Is it just me or does everything/textures appear much sharper? No complains here on that.
Was hoping the new shipyard UI would had made it in to this update to show us the loadout,ah well :)

Thanks for the comprehensive list of fixes.
Yes everything looks great. The new shipyard UI did make it to show loadout - try pressing the = and a new window opens for the current ship being looked at with everything you need to know! :)

Greetings Commanders!

As of approximately 07:00 UTC / 08:00 BST this morning, we have deployed 'Update 5' for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey to address a number of issues and implement some quality of life improvements to the Galaxy. The update will be available once the servers are back online for you.

Patch notes for this Update can be found listed below for you...It's a big one, so buckle up. Deep breath.

<snip>

As always, thank you so so much for your continued feedback, support and commitment in helping us improve further on your Elite Dangerous experience.

See you in the black, Commanders o7

Great list of updates there! May I make the QOL request of being able to duplicate suit loadouts please? There are a lot of options regarding suit customization that would benefit, time-wise, from being able to just duplicate rather than having to select them all again each time. Thanks, appreciate the continued hard work!

Wow what a list but am I reading this correctly? If I team up with someone on a mission, I don't get to keep any of the items I loot from a settlement?

Thanks for all the hard work!
No, I think it refers to specific required mission items only. That's how I read it, though clarification is welcome.

Might want to revisit that one. I just got offered two "Turn on power at..." missions to the same target settlement. The mission requirements were identical; the only difference between them was the reward being offered.
And two "Fetch the personal documents from..." missions to the same target settlement (but a different settlement than the "turn on power" missions above). As before, the mission requirements were identical; the only difference was the offered reward.

Great work devs. Please keep on releasing patches to polish the game.

Some devs spoke about more types of atmospheric planets for Odyssey. Is there an ETA for the new Thargoid content?

It's a pity there are so many negative Nancies on the ED subreddit.

Overall I am pleased. Graphics flicker a bit but better than crashing all the time because the game didn't seem compatible in any setting with GeForce NVidia 1070 graphics. Now it is. Happy for now, even did some walking.

Been clarified earlier in thread. Yes, is JUST the mission related item, ready for mission taker to hand in.

edit: As leaving, weapon seller just asked me if there was anything else she could, "do me for". Sense of humour (never a bad thing, especially around these forums some days) duly noted and appreciamated! Love it.

Lot of hopes on this one, this will be the make it or break it update for me. If this doesn't make Odyssey decently playable I won't buy it.
If you won't try for yourself, how will you know if it's decently playable or not? I consider Odyssey decently playable but I guess your preference on who's word you're taking may be based on..?

My advice to you (and anyone else), if you're sincere about wanting Odyssey but wanting it to be 'decently playable' first; buy it, give it a fair shot, if it's not playable by your standards, then refund it. It's really that simple. There's literally no downside to it and you will know for sure based on your own preference.

For those who aren't too fussed by the onfoot stuff and are on the fence, all the extra available outposts (and there's a lot of them!) are quite a large bonus to the ship based gameplay of Elite, the new lighting is great IMO and the light atmospheric planets are nice too, and being able to get out of your ship/SRV and meet other players on foot is way better than bumping shields in a ship or srv...

Something is wrong. The FPS in settlements are now occasionally dropping below 20. I Used to get 50+ and min 35 or so when viewing fires. Now it seems to stutter into the 17s when some NPCs walk a bit odd.

@sallymorganmoore The gamma still seems to be way off. This is best visible in the actual gamma settings.

See the 2 images. As per the text in the settings, the leftmost image is only visible when I crank it up to the max. The other image shows at which level it completely disappears.

Surely, this is incorrect?

That screenshot shows the image on the left super bright. Way, way too bright.
funny. both screenshots are literally the same on my screen, i cant see a difference at all.
so it looks like it isnt an ingame-issue but a screen-setting

had that a few years back on one of my old DVI Screens. one of our Designers complained about a wrong grey in a Table they added to a Website. i was sitting there like "what grey? there is no grey, the Table has the same white as the rest of the Page" ... then he showed me on his fancy designer Screen and yeah...there its was a different grey.
It all came down to some gamma and rgb settings on the screen itself.

Thanks, probably why I now prefer the 'Reddit' style layout than ye old forum layout, it is much easier to see whether a specific question has been answered or not as you make your way through the original post.

GPU usage are showing that ED is effictivly using my 8GB GPU ram, and putting alot of strain on my 3070 for alot worse performance.

gettting alot of stuttering in on foot planetary gameplay.

Is was fine before this update, was getting a steady 50 fps with good quality, now it just stutters making it drop to below 20- every 10 sec or something.

Not had chance to test as at work,
but hoping that stays, as the multiple missions to one location used to be from different NPC/factions but could only ever accept one to each location

Not really sure what the point of limiting just one mission per location, when there are multiple NPC/factions per message board.
If anything will restrict the no of missions even more

Quite. I rather liked the old way of taking multiple missions to the same location. I'm not impressed that this has apparently been restricted now. However, I was pointing out that the loudly-trumpeted change to the mission board (only one mission of each type, per target location) had not, in fact, manifested as advertised.
