Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Ah, the silly goose naïve theory, poor CR, tsk tsk. Well, again if you really think that after 7+ years of failed promises and deliveries while raking in millions then I think I have a huge BDSSE bridge to sell you.

Promises made by executives who didn't fully understand what they were talking about is not unique in game development, it does happen and for that to be a reason to write off the thing of contention entirely would be hypocrisy on this forum.

Don't worry they've spent it ;)

Chris has only earmarked approx $6million on top of wages though, from all revenue streams. Not bad. Just imagine if he delivers a game!
Poor Chris, tsk tsk. So silly to make promises out of ignorance.

That's the problem, EDO is not a lie, but it is hugely complex and difficult and whiners are perpetually of the mind that its only 2 clics from being patched and having their own wanted features in.

I'll never get why FDEV doesn't get the same treatment CIG gets.
Haters don't deserve salvation. Only the faithful do.

I can accept CR has some genuine talents but is also a bit of clown and no one should listen to him, even in hindsight. Its a lesson learned, but a clown making promises out of ignorance that were never going happen is not a reason for me to write the project off entirely.

When said clown is chairman and head creative I think that the project has minimal chances of success tbh!

It would get the same treatment if EDO was effectively complex and difficult. It's not the case.

Maybe, Only time will tell.

ED is not done yet. It seems to me, they announce and add things as they get completed, or near completion, so Im confident they'll do the same with ship interiors and everything on that list.

Is that true?

SaltEMike talking to 2 Ex-CIG developers, its 90 minutes long but its worth listening to while you're working or playing a game...

Guys! SC is the most complex never been done before game in the history of gaming! It is a living, breathing world filled with indistinguishable from humans NPCs that will happily serve you drinks while learning how to juggle glasses.

A world you can live in and get lost in the stars, well, star because there's only one at the moment but you just wait!

Oh and btw, support the game if this sounds good and want to make it a reality! Don't want to miss out on a future game of the decade. Just don't ask what decade that will be, it will be done when it's done (as long as cash keeps coming in).

And thats my fear, both projects failing without real alternative...

Think about it.

CIG spends in SC a lot of money and worker time (x7 Frontier on ED) to get a so slow advance, doing 2 games too ambitious at the same time (SC and SQ 42) and with the CEO focused in earn money setting a jpg ships factory.

ED with a minimum part of the worker time and budget of SC and also a problematic game engine, with a CEO of Frontier focused on satisfy their shareholders and get into to many projects, as more as possible, to develop at the same time. Getting into the shop new skins to sell while the turmoil of Odyssey. Failing to release prevoius products in time and being cutted.

Then both seem to fail in their vision. Too far over their capacities, but also granting them moneymaking machines, at the same time. So, why they need to change, if both have too loyal until the end of the times, core community, and can milk the cow?

What I can foresee, is all dissappointing.

It certainly makes one think its probably best investing only in games when they are completely finished, and not investing in dreams and wishful thinking.

Whatever you want it or not, it's more than "on a development roadmap", it was sold, $M of backers money have been spent on it. Not releasing -good or bad that's not even the problem - it would be a shame and incidentally an admission of failure.

And if they can't manage to make a decent solo experience - that's been touted for YEARS as being the priority dev, how on earth could they achieve their BDSSE?

Hah! How often have we heard from the faithful that the reason SC development is so slow is because CIG are focusing on SQ42?

And, if you think about it, if that is really true (debatable), and its taken them close to 10 years (and will take them more than 10 years) to make a single player game, that doesn't bode well for how long it will take them to make Star Citizen.

No. We are a lot (me included) to wait for SQ42. The fact that SC is more and more enjoyable patch after patch can switch priorities for some others. But only a true hater can make a big deal of it ;)

BINGO!!!!

Only haters could criticize CIG for their development and practices!
