Latest stream has more dislikes than likes... FD are you listening?

Hey Piglet,

At the moment we're focusing on some of the big hitter feedback regarding PowerPlay that have been circulating for a while, for example, the idea of 'Open-only' PowerPlay. We're weighing up the pros and cons of both, as well as the technical aspect, and once we have a decision we'll feed that back, but I can't put a timescale on that considering a lot of focus is on Odyssey at the moment. Once we have a handle on the bigger things, I think it would be a good idea to have a focused feedback thread.

Open only Power Play is never going to happen unless the Devs come up with a way for players to spend 4 weeks to get the toys while not influencing the BGS of Power Play. Currently the Devs cannot figure FPS issues in Odyssey.

"When we're ready to share more......"

So back to pre Odyssey rules of engagement, then. :-(
I'm not sure asking them to share stuff before they're ready is reasonable. It's just going to lead to things like the "dev livestream / dev update post" mega complaint thread.

I mean, seriously, close to 100 pages (across the various threads and forums combined), just on the official forums, discussing how bad it was that Frontier had said there'd be a dev livestream but actually there was a dev forum post (containing the same information).

Message - I think - they received loud and clear: it's better to say nothing than to say something which turns out not to be 100% correct.

"You said X, now you're saying Y, you lied to us" -> "Okay, we'll wait until we're 100% confident before talking."
"You aren't telling us anything" -> "Okay, we'll say some things which aren't currently 100% certain."
Repeat forever.

Did the people who visited overnight and gave it a up-vote act petty as well, or do people in North America watch things later due to time difference? Give it up Ian.
People watched the stream, demanding stuff that was never advertised as content for the stream. Then they down-vote it because the stream didn't give them what they wanted.
Not the streams fault, but those people who come to a stream that advertises specifc content, expecting other content.

PEBKAC.

It also got many likes, so it's just not everyone can watch it at that specific time.

Currently the stream has 247 downvotes, so overnight people have been visiting a stream that had long finished to downvote it.

That certainly says something about pettyness.
That certainly says something about the game and frontier that people want to go out of their way to put a vote in.

In fairness that approach worked very well with the UI improvements since release; the UI was a massive source of frustration for many as far back as the Alpha. After the CMs collated feedback and worked with the UI team to understand and address the issues we now have an interface which is significantly improved, much more suitable and arguably better than the Horizons UI in many areas.

I guess we're all still waiting for anything Frontier might say about new ships, SRVs, Fleet Carrier social hub... anything at all. Even if there's no concrete due date.

This is what live streams are for... communicate what's new about the game. If there's nothing to "show and tell", people might as well watch/play something else.

What you are describing is handled by building relationships and trust over time. Unfortunately when trust is lost it can be difficult to get it back. That's what Community Management is there for. What Sally is doing in the update 5 thread is a good example of building relationships and trust, it isn't easy & takes lots of reiteration & patience.

Some people will always find an excuse to complain (because they don't like something about it), just as some will always support a company or product (because they like something about it).

None of this is unique to FDev or ED.

Excellent!

Yeah when Frontier ask for help from the community we stand ready to do so in droves and I think collaboration where possible really improves the game. I'm not calling for the tail wagging the dog though as I'm pleased Braben stuck to his own personal vision.. But I would like to see if he still has the same vision as before!

we know at the very least we are getting a new SRV as in the tutorial it says "There's an SRV here.. it's the Scarab variant" .. you don't say that if there is only one SRV.

I disagree.

It says volumes about the levels to which people stoop.
There are ways to provide criticism which are not hostile, damaging, toxic or petty. A down vote is simply petty. IMO.

Powerplay Open Only.
You can have both, its a case of just dividing it up in a way that modes don't undermine each other.

My preference is that deliveries and fighting are in open, but the cargo itself is generated via missions in solo like support. So both dovetail but don't overlap. So, Powerplay missions in solo would have a powerplay cargo reward that Open moves rather than say, rep.
