I have downloaded the vids, made a DATA folder and put the AVI files in it, but still no vids, just the sound. Am I missing something?

Despite th negative comments, I thought the vids made the gameworld more immersive and would really like to have them in my ffe3d!

...Oh, and real kudos to the Russian mod maker(s) and to all you guys here helping with the links an advice and everything! Have read the whole thread, and found it very interesting!!

No, the vids don't work in FFE D3D. Hopefully a future release will address this.

All you need is to download the game (obviously!) and the mod (v1.12 is the latest at the moment).

Then download the new ship from the link in the forum and extract the file into the folder for that particular ship. This is usually explained in each post.

The next time you encounter that particular ship it should be the new version

Do you now if that ships will be packed in a future version or patch?

I see myself swimming 3 hours into the forum searching for the new models...

In fact the videos do not work since the high resolution versions of JJFFE or GLFFE, I dont remember. But the voices can be heard. The problem is with the image itself.

Had the same problem myself, after trying to work out whats what on the Russian site I gave up and reached for the vodka!

Speaking of Russian version - I'm still not using it due to incompleteness and some other issues, but if anyone wants to go sightseeing, I recommend Turner's World in Alioth system - the crescent of Alioth 4 in day-lit sky looks positively gorgeous.

As with most mods, patches and other files, I just google, pick the site from the resulting list and download. most often don't remember the site at all!

I remember I just googled 'Frontier First Encounters videos download'- so do that and you'll probably get the same results list as me.

Can't say I have seen any talk about new missions,but they do seem to be translating the game into Russian.So even if there are new mission in the future they will be in Russian not English so if anybody is interested in doing this your best bet is to post on the Elitegames forum.

From a purely selfish point of view, that's disappointing news for me plus everyone else who can't read or write Russian. I can understand why the Russian guys would want to do it, but it'll cut off a lot of fans

Well it may not be all bad news undoubtedly at some point there will have to some sort mission editor made for the game,which may allow any text to be inputted into the game

Does anyone on here still post on the Russian site? They could ask the question about if there are any plans for new missions.


Just had a thought. The original Ffe was rushed by gametek into production. That means a lot of things may have been left out! Michae & Stefan, how about asking David if there was/is anything that was left out that could be re-inserted.

Good idea. I remember on the alt.fan.elite newsgroup about something being mentioned about David's design notes for FFE. I assume he still has possession of those notes and they're not rotting underground with a load of landfill .

...which are making improvements to the hangars and cities
