Define "social offense", please.
Impossible, it's too subjective, just like what I pasted below from the official statement.

"...or are deemed harmful towards individual members of staff or teams..."

It's way too broad, and subjective.

Example: Some customers who bought Ody feel like they were lied to, if they express this, will they now get banned because an employee of FD "feels harmed"?

Disagree. I can very clearly control myself as an adult to not say something that is harmful towards someone.

As can you. Even a list of examples of what meets that criteria wouldn't cover all possibilities. Take ownership of yourself.

The other odd curiosity was how the statement didn't extend to players being absusive towards other players. I would sincerely hope the moderators are considering doing so even though that behaviour is not a concern to the issue.....

Harmful means nothing.
If you don't get this, there's no point is discussing this with you.

Completely agree with this. I am often shocked by how much doesn't get moderated. There was a thread here recently in which someone was basically berating men in general for our pathetic love of "guns and violence", and saying that our base instincts were the reason that Odyssey wasn't more focused on exploration. Apparently that was fine.

There's a difference between "reporting a problem" and "personally harassing the developers".

Lil' while back I had to chew out some people in a little hobby project's discord because they were pinging one of the maintainers and pestering him while his status was set to DND - because it apparently wasn't enough to just file an issue report or ask literally anyone else that could have answered their question, no, they had to personally drop into one particular coder's DMs and demand he drop what he's doing to help them now.

Even if you don't think you're being "abusive", the fact remains that you are not the damn manager, Karen.

That's exactly what I mean. You've never been banned for doing exactly the same thing that he was ostensibly banned for.

The only conclusion is that the ban was arbitrary.
We all read that post.

It's disingenuous to suggest the ban was for what you said.

It's subjective, look up that word.
I don't need to, I'm not the one confused by what harmful means in this context.

I'm crystal clear on the post. I'm fully capable of controlling myself so as to not say something to a dev that even has the remote chance of causing subjective harm to them.

Are you suggesting that is beyond you? Why do you need this defined? Is it your intent to say stuff that might subjectively cause harm but you'd like to find the line so you can push right up against it?

You know what an abusive message looks like. Please stop pretending you don't just for the sake of controversy.

Did you report it for sexism?

I'm getting upset, you're harming me right now.
