Camera Suite Improvements: Update Notes

Hello!
I'll have a little think for you. As we continue to roll out more updates we can see what areas might benefit from more "zoned in" discussion (like continued polish with bookmarks) following the changes, to keep the thoughts rolling whilst sharing back possibilities.

Thank you for the response, I look forward to all updates, but bookmarks are one of my favourite bugbears, always out of them!

Classic.

Well here's hoping that I'll log back into update 6. I'm into exploration right now and looking forward to it.

Sally, you are a monster! 😁 You seem to sleep even less than me, I always thought that's impossible! Have you ever heard of "Don't Sleep, There Are Snakes!"? (a book from Daniel Everett)
Since Sally already woke up in the small hours dreaming about the performance implications of glass surfaces in Elite, there's a fair chance that reading this (or even just reading the title) will cause similar colourful adder-based incidents. :)

The max distance ranges on the free cam are:
  • 3km for ships in space
  • 250m for ships on planets and SRVs
  • 125m for on foot (This is now raised as of Update 6 from the previous 100m)

Isn't this distance different fo landed ship and for SRV/on foot?.
It feels like for landed ship its still lesser value than for SRV/on foot.

Well, here’s some news you may like:

1) DarkenSpace season 1 is coming back to YouTube in the fall. I’ve spent the last six weeks or so going back through the older episodes and updating/replacing the parts of the soundtrack that weren’t up to my current standards, and am about halfway through the list of updates now. And I met with legal counsel to discuss my concerns with the FTC guidance and the changes in that guidance in the past year, and now feel I am no longer in any jeopardy if I repost this stuff.

2) I have scripts in the works for a DarkenSpace season 2, and Charles Hubbell has agreed to reprise his lead role in the series. Now everything depends upon whether EDO pulls its act together well enough for me to be able to capture quality video from it. This news about the camera suite is a very big and necessary step in that direction, but I’m still waiting to see what happens with the performance, lighting and planet textures before I make the final commitment to go ahead with production of new episodes.

Assuming I do decide to proceed (and I want to believe that’s more likely than not … I’m pulling for FD here!), the good news is that I am now retired from my day job and will be able to pour far more time into such a series than I could when I did the original season. Add to that: much improved studio gear, more experience composing for video, and an RTX 3070 in my gaming computer, and you might rightly guess that I’m excited about the prospect of doing this again, and better than ever. Stay tuned …
This are really a good news! I liked first season of DS and there was really nicely seen how game and your techniques taking videos improved in time. Looking forward to rewatch season 1 once it’s back and fingers crossed for DS Season 2 👍

"The cameras are not the priority, we do not move forward, we go back ..."
It's difficult to see how improving something is going back in this instance. Can't say the camera would be my top priority, but any improvement in the game is good in my book.
