Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 7 Notes

Rubberplay is a thing now
Not even FDev can stop it!

Great work, and the patch notes made for some excellent reading.

  • Altered ship vs human collisions such that ship velocity is taken into consideration. Stops humanoids being launched into the air, being damaged at low velocity, and makes surface slippy so they are more likely to fall off.

Oh, I can see Cmdrs hitching rides into orbit now...

While the notes are extensive and I would absolutely love to give fdev some positive feedback. I have none to give.
That's fine! Each to their own :)

It is a shame it took the absolute decimation of the playerbase for something to get done.
Still got some awesome Commanders playing, so we'll keep doing what we're doing now for them and welcome anyone who would like to come back, whenever they're ready :)
But I forget, critical feedback is not something you listen to unless it comes with the dollar sign attached to it.
Not true, I/we listen to it and feedback to it pretty much every day here. The critical feedback is what gives us the ability to put out these updates.

So, Congrats to the dev team for successfully polishing a turd.
Thanks!

Because after 4 months, the game still has more bugs than I've ever drank cups of coffee (that's a lot) the content is non existent other than the copy and paste community goals that haven't changed in years. And are we any closer to thargoid interaction after what, 3 years? Other than straight up murdering them, no.
We'll keep rolling out the improvements as best we can though to make way for content so that's cool.

Elite at its highest could do no wrong. Now I suggest you take a leaf from your competitors and do what needs to be done to bring this game back to being the pinnacle of games that it was.
Getting on with it now.

"But we are doing updates" I hear you cry
Sure, only out of necessity, rather than taking care of your players and the people who put money in your pockets.
What would you like us to do, sorry? You want us to "bring the game back to being the pinnacle of games it was" but we're getting 'told off' for doing the updates that will hopefully make that happen.

A long time ago, the players came to fdev and said no more content we want things fixing. Granted you did exactly as we asked. This is placation, nothing more.
I'm so confused, I'm sorry.

The irony of all I have said, is no one's going to read it
Hi.

someone will take offence
Nah

and it'll be canned to ever circle the black hole of honest feedback
Nahhh

instead of brown nosing the individuals who work at the company.
No really. I actually GENUINELY appreciate the time you put into this statement. I do. All feedback is absolutely welcome and it is only making us better (you might not think it but honestly, it is).

But yay, updates. sigh
Yay (we'll keep going!).

AI in a settlement will now register a crime if they see a player transferring data.
So now we get something to help us conceal such acts? Or you just take things
Settlement AI will now attempt to re-enable a building's atmosphere if it has been disabled.
Why would they? Does it affect them in any way? Or you mean they will actually leave the place hence creating a diversion?
New AI "barks" added. Going to keep the term "barks" because it's fun and elaborate more
Hope it won't be like with the "shy" fighter's pilots
AI ships can now attack ship launched fighters.
So what was killing them?
Fixed an issue where NPCs might get stuck during death flow.
That caused a lot of frustration when that prevented a win in a combat zone(didn't happen often, but it hurt when it did)
An issue has been fixed whereby engineers sometimes took materials but didn't apply the mod
Does that mean that people are getting their mats back?
Consumables can now be used directly from the ground using the secondary interaction key binding.
Now that's a super handy addition
The item wheel button is now a toggle rather than hold interaction.
Hope it is not mandatory...

Ah, you reminded me of the other thing I thought was an issue. Totally agree on the item wheel. That will be awful if it isn't possible to keep it a hold option.
