Stop trolling.
I genuinely want to know where they said what you claimed they said. I fail to see how questioning your sources is trolling.
Funny, because Braben specifically says:

"You WILL be able to walk around inside your ship, you WILL be able to get out of your ship, walk around inside space stations, other vehicles, all that sort of thing."

Words are important. It helps to pay attention to them. He didn't say "we would like to", he said "you will be able to". Spot the difference?
I mean one minute you give the impression to be all for punctuality, the next minute, you start making stuff up...?

That's not a promise, no matter how much you insist it is.
And you do realise game development changes over the years. I can't say why Frontier never developed ship interiors, only they can, but don't confuse "things we'd like to do" with "This will definitely be in the game".
That's not a promise? Some people deny the light of the sun.

They also promised offline mode 🤷‍♀️ 9 years is a long time to change your mind on something.
Ok, pick you position.
They didn't have time to put it in yet. Give them more time
or
That's a long time ago, they changed their mind since then.
At least your not claiming it's not a promise, so that's good.

Are you confusing me with someone else? I never suggested they didn't have time to do anything.

If I had my way, FD never would've put legs in the game, but that ship sailed.

Fine. So now, turn the clock back three or four years. How many times were we told on public youtube broadcasts there were "no plans" for space legs?

(Look up Sandro Q&A's) Literally dozens of times there were no plans, and yet .. Odyssey. Work that one out?
It's a non-denial denial .. denial.
challenge accepted:

PAX East 2017, lead designer Sandro Sammarco:

"Just to set the record straight, Space Legs and EVA gameplay, that's way off in the future. That's a goal. I've talked to David and it's always been part of his core vision for what Elite really is, even from way back in the day, it's always been about you're a person in a real futuristic setting, not just a ship. "

edit: sorry, just realised, he doesn't say no plans...

Like offline mode again 🤷‍♀️

I'm over the fact they ditched offline mode a long time ago. In fact, I thought it was pretty daft to start with... just like legs.

Offline mode would probably have meant online mode would have been dead in the water. Not making a judgement here on whether it was the right or wrong decision from a business perspective. An offline game could have worked well. They were wrong to advertise it and then pull it, that's a separate matter.

What I wanted really though was the ability to self-host, kind of Frontier with LAN/local server ability. Play with friends and stuff.

The only hope we have for any of that now is FDs "promise" to release an offline patch when they shut down the servers.

We will have to wait and see on that, its likely to be many years before that happens, and maybe by then Star Citizen will have released!

Possibly. Though as it happens, playing Odyssey un-solo online - in a team - does give a nice ghost in the machine moment.

On your own, the AI can be quite predictable, if complicated by more than one guard about you. But add in that the guards keep eyes on other players running around, who you have no control over, and the guards go right off piste which can make life pretty interesting.

Odyssey is obviously stymied by its performance problems but definitely has it's moments. Quite a few of them in my book but that ghost never could have happened in solo offline.

They also refunded those unable to play the game online.

Well, i didn't really want to dive into that, but its a bit controversial. They only refunded those who never connected, so they took the word "unable" very literally, basically saying "if you managed to connect even just once then no refund".

That, in my opinion, was not good.

I think they could have refunded everyone who wanted it, no questions asked, and been fine. A majority of the money for release came from FD, not backers, and the number of people who would realistically have asked for a refund based on no offline mode would have probably just been a rounding error.

Yep, if you participated in the alpha testing of the networking component, you were ineligible for a refund. Of course, we didn't know at that point this would be the only way to play.

Well, from a personal POV, I would not have backed E: D to anything like the level I did if it wasn't going to be offline. So that was £750 I felt I was basically ripped off for with the bait and switch. I know a number of other higher level backers who would have asked for a refund if it were possible, because of the offline debacle, so it's not an insignificant sum. You are into 10s of thousands of ££, easily.

I just learned never to back them or trust them again. Mostly.
