I'm always a bit conflicted on the "things Frontier said they'd include in pre-1.0 statements" thing.
On the one hand, certainly anyone who bought the game then expecting those to be added will understandably feel upset now that it's not there and not going to arrive in the next five years either, or possibly ever.
On the other hand, some of their early ideas were terrible and/or would require unpicking existing game mechanics in a highly unpopular way and/or were clearly things they came up with before they'd worked through the implications of "multiplayer" in "multiplayer Elite".
