Presumably they are closing other threads and printing them here so that - when that are ready to announce whatever it is that is still being discussed / agreed behind the scenes - they only have to reply to this thread.
That’s my take on it, anyway.
As for what they will announce? Who knows … I just hope it’s a positive announcement for the future of Elite … and I hope it’s made soon …

I heard it was Fiddy Cent …Surely the new owners Tencent will announce something soon.
Buck Fiddy...inflation and all.I heard it was Fiddy Cent …
It's its a publicly listed company. And 70 percent of shares are not owned by Braben. All you have to do to seize control is purchase more voting shares than Braben has, right? However.
It's completely and utterly irrelevant if someone wants to buy Frontier - David Braben is by far and away the chief shareholder, and as such can't be forced into a sale unless he wants to.
Didn't know your discord was so famous lol!Oh for...
Look lads. All this was based on a joke on our Discord server last week that got repeated on social media. It weirdly got picked up by someone in the Daily Mail (which should clue you in to its legitimacy) and redone by some financial blog, and then the youtube lads got their paws on it.
However.

Sorry lads. As someone who's weirdly picked up a reputation for being one of those "white knights", hate to burst ye're bubble that one armed with sacks of cash and an army of 1,000 developers is coming to the rescue.
You should definitely apply for community manager position (if not already). 100% match.
I`m not quite sure what you are getting at, but buying a controlling share in a publicly listed company is a well understood process.Back then there was anything but silence; months before the takeover there was talk, lies and deception that bent the beam. We workers were the silent ones back in these days.
But the only thing chattering at the moment is us.
Somehow I have a feeling that some of us here are going to make a pretty stupid face shortly...![]()
I always make pretty stupid faces here, for obvious reasons.Somehow I have a feeling that some of us here are going to make a pretty stupid face shortly...
That gif perfectly sums up the Cobra engine.
Are you sure? Every one of Frontier's in-house games use the same engine..That gif perfectly sums up the Cobra engine.
Well, more voting shares than Braben plus the other shareholders who don't want to rock the boat, but yes. It's its a publicly listed company. And 70 percent of shares are not owned by Braben. All you have to do to seize control is purchase more voting shares than Braben has, right?
What is playing on the back on my mind, is that in this calendar year, so far, there has been more global M&A activity in the games indistry than there was in the whole of last year, and last year was - up until then - the biggest year for M&A activity in the games industry in history. There aren't many circumstances where it actually makes sense to spend that much money buying Frontier / replacing its leadership, obviously.
That's to lock IP and future content into an exclusive digital distribution platforms. It's been happening in TV and film for longer. Big money is exchanging hands because its seen as necessary for survival against competitors, an auction situation where it inflates value. Again as mentioned before I don't see anything in Frontier branding or IP that would benefit a platform, they are relatively niche titles so any buyer would see a multi platform approach as being best option, so what would be the point in buying the company?! Only tenent makes sense as it wants a foot hold in new markets but they have already done that, not sure what more they would gain. What is playing on the back on my mind, is that in this calendar year, so far, there has been more global M&A activity in the games indistry than there was in the whole of last year, and last year was - up until then - the biggest year for M&A activity in the games industry in history.
The mods routinely close threads and direct people to a single thread to discuss particular topics. Happens all the time.I find it interesting posts in other forums regarding the silence of FDev are now being closed and pointed to this thread, which does little more than inform us that FDev knows they are being silent...and to deal with it. I haven't had a post removed (I can't see why discussing the company silence would be cause for closure, either) but I think it strange that discussion over a very pertinent topic to the game is being so heavily filtered and censored.
