Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Nice shots there.

Hmmm, being out for Professor Palin unlock and guardian things for about a month, I started to miss my Kraits.

Last week's randomly chosen system to park up for the weekend turned out to have a moon with 8 bio signals. My landing spot turned out to be a 'garden' with 4 different specimens right next to each other. I wonder if I can find all 8 on this moon.

Situations like that make me wish that engineering gave us multiple sample canisters so we could swap rather than have to try and find that spot again for times.

I even resorted to some r2r for a while which is entirely out-of-character
Yeah, if you're considering r2r it's definitely time for a change. :)

Very cool. The most I've managed to get in 1 screenshot so far is 3. You win! :p

I'm still using the old Edison program. It's not quite Odyssey compatible (only works when in the SRV), and it's a little glitchy, but I can save locations and it will direct me back to them. It comes in handy for situations where there are several bios to find and they are scattered about. The download link for Edison is expired, though, so it's hard to get a copy now. I found it -- somewhere on the intertubes -- recently, but I don't remember where.

I also tried the newer SRVTracker thingy, but I couldn't get it to work at all.

Yeah, I know what you mean. In this particular case each of the plants had so many patches in the area I was able to go out in the SRV about 1.7km and back to the ship twice to sample 4 species and went out about 1.9km for a 5th calling the ship to my location to move on. 6th was a type of bacteria that was a bit sparse but liked gentle slopes which I found the 3 samples for in the ship. Bio signal 7 was in a different habitant higher up and plentiful once located. I never found bio signal number 8, Osseus, which I know from other planets to like rocky mountain sides. There were no rocky mountains on this moon.

Yeah, I had one like that. I found everything but the Osseus, and there were no mountains about. But the weirdest one was a planet that had Tussocks as one of the types, but there was absolutely no blue in the heatless map for it, anywhere on the whole planets. I flew around a bunch of times to be sure. I guess there was like 1 Tussock, and the tiny blue dot it made in the heatless map was invisible. :)

I had one bio signal last week that had one small blue patch in the bottom of a valley on the whole bright side of the planet as far as I could see. I managed to get 3 samples of it too.

I'm a few jumps from Triffid Nebula and curious about what I will find in it - probably all discovered and mapped systems as its not that big and not far from the bubble. Omega nebula was pretty well mapped and further from the bubble.
I've been meaning to return to Observation Post Epsilon just outside the Triffid nebula and try and figure out what the 101st Recon Company are actually listening for, as this is a listening post. Something in the nebula? I expect I'm reading too much into it, and its just a bit of "set dressing".

I just read The Day of the Triffids, a few months ago. So, just pack a primary when exobiologing, just in case. You aren't reading too much into it.

Hey I also found a bio 8-banger, with three more 2-bangers in system. This is like the star system Indus! Including two whole classes I hadn't run into yet. The cactoida here are like my Terran aunt's prickly pears, with no prickles. I've got to tell her! And the tussocks stems are fleshy and segmented instead of strawy! What?! I know!! :p

I fairly sure I read The Day of the Triffids some years ago. I also watched the 1981 TV mini series when it was first aired. Just seen there was a 2009 remake.
Since I can't find a reason for anything else 101 Recon could be listening for here, I'll accept watching out for Triffids as a reason :ROFLMAO:
It's all thoroughly explored around the Triffid Nebula. I've been looking for a reason to explore a patch of space not too far from the bubble with my own fleet carrier as a base. Just not sure where to choose.
Floalt GO-G d11-9 (Amaethon Nebula) is big and mostly unexplored roughly on the route between the bubble and Colonia. But at 16Kly away from the bubble its more of a hike than I want to take with a carrier.
I must stop putting off going back to the bubble so that I actually do buy the carrier this week.

Two curious things happened today. Well, one is a bug and annoying but hey ho...

Firstly, I wanted a screenshot of me kneeling in front of the SRV in a dark environment and using an emote to make it look like I was fixing something. As I ploughed through each one, I hit "clap" and the headlights turned off. I could replicate it every time. Put Alexa to shame.

Secondly, I took two missions for power restores that were offering man. xtrns. Both failed to update when installing the power regs. Both times I had to use a reg. from my own stash of spares. I'll be robbing this system stupid before I leave it.

If you actually want to get a lot of first discoveries while you are exploring pick somewhere that isn't on a route from the bubble to anywhere and isn't famous or especially pretty. The routes are relatively well travelled and more people head to pretty places or places they have heard of than anonymous ordinary stars.

I'm still schlepping small cargo loads around the area for reputation grinding for Federation rank. So I went a little off the deep end with bobbleheads.

I like the planetary bobbleheads but I won't get them as I find bobbleheads in my field of view an annoying distraction, now if we could place them near where the side view panels are it would be much better.

A trip to the North America and Pelican Nebulae and the Elephant's Trunk Nebula
CMDR rupee noon, May 3308

My new Phantom is able to gobbles Nebulae as a form of photoshoots

I believe this was Elephant's Trunk but lost a batch of pictures. I am not 100% sure

But this was definitely Elephan's Trunk! An unantipated and most welcome landing to take repair. Well worth evading an interdiction at the nav beacon!

Afterwards, on to Veil West. Then Veil East that I mentioned earlier, which concluded the final stop on the Millenium Dolphin Tour co owner's personal local sightseeing tour.
