Discovery Scanner [Weekly Update] - 16/05/2022

Really good stream Zac & Bruce, thought the interview was cool and gave us visibility of how missions are created (no easy task hey :) )

Great Stuff

Is there a TLDW recap?
The details about Update 12 begin around the 14 minute mark. Long short:

  1. U12 is due the end of May (no date yet)
  2. New Mission Type: illegal variant of defense mission type (details at the 34 minute mark)
  3. Players will be able to access their menu wheel while sitting down
  4. Players will be able to interact with the bartender while sitting down
  5. Players will be able to use their captain chair's tablet to manage their fleet carrier
  6. Black markets will offer more value for stolen goods
  7. 100 to possibly 200 bug fixes/QoL/optimization items
  8. Players will be able to recall their ship to a detention center, avoiding the need to use Apex (huzzah!)
That's the gist. 7 & 8 are my favorites. :)

I also enjoyed the interview with the dev. It was interesting to get a look at the sausage making!

It'll be next Tuesday or Thursday then! I do like the new mission variant I'm hoping they add a ship version and continue to expand on these types of missions. Would love to see a version of the ground theft/heist mission that involves ships and space. Boarding a megaship to steal data or an item would be really cool. It would give the community a basic ship interior to explore as they could reuse some of the carrier assets and it would add variation to the game play. My dream would be that megaship heists become timed and available to lots of players in Open so you have a chance on running into other players on foot.

  1. So in a week and a bit then.
  2. Another mission🥱
  3. These
  4. are
  5. good
  6. They should work black markets the way rare goods work, the further from the scene of the crime the nearer full value the goods are as the risk to the buyer is lower.
  7. Very nice.
  8. This one I am a little disappointed by, punishment for crimes is reduced a little more.
Thank you for the summary.

Still no word on any sort of engineering rebalance...

Guess I'll check back in 2023.
