Thank you for the very helpful feedback.I'm actually a little surprised you have those specs considering that it was lying around for work. You're not far off mine, which I've decided to evolve rather than outright replace. The video ram on your GPU could be a little higher than 6GB but regular ram is cheap and easy to upgrade. Though the latter isn't really necessary for games. The GPU is what counts. Personally, I wouldn't even consider buying a whole new computer with a base like this to work with.
You may be able to select a lot of ultra settings as long as you don't upscale.
Graphics card - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 - 6 GB GDDR6
RAM - 16 GB DDR4 - 32 GB maximum installable RAM
Processor - Intel® Core™ i7-11800H Processor - Octa-core - 2.4 GHz / 4.6 GHz - 24 MB cache

I thought the standard 3060 came with 12GB VRAM... while, oddly, the slightly faster Ti version "only" came with 8.
I also have no idea what the general Elite performance is like on xBox, so for all I know a graphic settings compromise on PC may give you something with the same look and feel of console. It'd be interesting to know actually. As @Nekozji surmised (and @Simon Templar explained) the spec was for a laptop (from the "i7-11800H" and the 6GB RTX 3060). There is little to be gained by upping the system memory from 16GB for Elite but I would stick in another 16 GB anyway (that's what I did with my laptop purchase last year) and since it has a 1TB SSD and a 1TB HDD there is storage enough to not need any extra added. All-in-all a decent present @Simon Templar - a good brother-in-law to have.
BTW the power rating of the RTX 3060 will be less than for a discrete card ( is certainly is for my laptop ) so be aware of that when looking at performance particularly if looking to run on external monitor. (When connecting to my 4k monitor you can be sure my laptop won't hit the screen's 60 Hz in Oddy settlements or concourses.)
I've owned cars.I had an MGBGT once. N reg. Overdrive, chrome bumpers... nice car.

This appears to be a laptop or an ultra compact... it will not perform like a desktop equivalent.
It will absolutely run the game, but it will not do so as well as an actual desktop with "the same" parts. A mobile 3060 is quite heavily cut down vs a desktop 3060, for example - and 6gb vram is concerning because my card has 8.5gb in use when playing EDO. You might find yourself resorting to AMD FSX upscaling, and less than maximum texture detail.
Which is completely playable, just be aware that this is probably good for 1080p and 60fps outside of settlements - and less in settlements. If you wanted to pair this machine with a higher resolution or higher framerate monitor, I'd suspect you'll be disappointed.
Now a desktop with a 3060 (12gb) and say an 11600 cpu - that's very solid for 1440p at constant 60fps anywhere except settlements. You can probably wring 90 fps out of it on non-settlement planetary surfaces, or do what I do with my 3060 and render at 125% resolution for smoother edges.
Edit: TLDR, it will play the game in space absolutely fine. It may judder in stations and planetary settlements, largely dependant on your monitor resolution. There are graphics settings in the game to help with the this situation, if it happens.
You are all completely correct - I misread the CPU nomenclature for starters, missing the laptop designation entirely! Sorry about that! I thought it was odd too since I assumed the same on the 3060 ram specs. I didn't realise it was a laptop either. You are all completely correct - I misread the CPU nomenclature for starters, missing the laptop designation entirely! Sorry about that! Oops
Apologies @Simon Templar
Sorry, I misremembered. It was actually a 4Gb 1050Ti.Can 1080Ti have 4 Gbs? Wasn't it all 8? Got 1080 FE, 8 Gb for me. Or laptop? Idk if you can fit TI into a laptop.
Nope, some internet researsh confirms that 1080 TI has 11 Gbs DDR5. Can't find anything except a couple of random bugs where it can show less DDR in some tools, which is corrected by checking in GPU-Z.
My gut says that everything will work out to an acceptable level but Simon will have a monster gaming PC within the year anyway after becoming a PC snob.
I suppose it's possible that I was also looking at EDH back in the day and Odyssey never changed its minimum requirements. Though it would also mean I was running Horizons on ultra with full upscalling even though my 1050Ti was 2Gb under the minimum. It was running great and looked ace.On Steam it's still min 6 Gbs- no, looked EDH, 8 indeed. That made me thinking that I never actually actually checked vram usage in game. In carrier hangar before disembarking it started at 4 Gbs, and in the process of going to my carriers' bar it quickly climbed to 7 Gbs. Guess even without CZ in a ground settlement it's all eaten and eating on my regular ram then. Yeah Odyssey is heavy. And i guessed i won't really need 1080's power, yet here we are, went through its max basically.
Looking at game specs is often useless, a lot of doubtful things is often written there, it's just a very broad indication of what kind of machine power you can need. Like you got it running on 6 Gbs vram while it's below min, while those guys with listed at minQuad Core CPU (4 x 2Ghz) might find things much more complicated, if even possible- no, again, looked EDH.
