Mmm, now I thought they were (but it’s odd they didn't seem to have a bodyid - I’ll check again later).
But then at my age I cant remember what I had for breakfast
Hang on, I dont have breakfast, apart from a mug of coffee! 🙂👴🏻
We need someone with a long memory...
Where’s Han_Zen?
I'm here.

There were lots of the little box shaped stations with external landing, at release. They were often run by pirate factions. When flying with a basic discovery scanner, they could be hard to locate, as they were often far from the star.

That was the only type of station, except for the the regular types.

You mean Outposts, rather than installations? Installations are not dockable.

v2.2 "The Guardians" & v1.7 - 25th Oct 2016 is when they were introduced according to :

Yes, looks like they were introduced in 2.2, augmented in 2.3 and extra interactions added in 3.1
So I can stop checking out space installations!
Unless FD did a Raxxla retcon!? 😱😱😱😱

BUT
I really must check again this afternoon in the logfile. IFF installations exist in-game in a system but don’t have bodyid numbers assigned from Stellar forge then I’m missing a load of information on the game mechanics!
Raxxla (or the Omphalos Rift link to it) must be implemented in-game somehow.
The omphalos rift was described in the codex as perhaps a tunnel, and installations are the only thing in-game that have tunnels, afaik.

Edit: mmm, on hindsight for tunnels- black holes, witchspace, anything else?

Also some of those tunnels do look like something to interact with, but no-one has reported anything meaningful.

As for Retconning of the Raxxla mechanism - its the trillion credit question - did FD completely change the method of unlocking and thus had to remove the old missions as being no longer releveant , etc. If thats true then nealy all the actual facts we have on Raxxla are null and void, and the only thing we have is the codex itself.

Or does it work the same way as it always did since Gamma/Beta/God was boy etc. in which case we can ignore all the new additions..

Who knows !

Have you ascertained the decay time?

And did I read somewhere that they are available in anarchy systems in the bubble? Dont want to journey out to Seagull Sector again for a while!!

God's a Girl- it's the Divine Female Principle that does the creation! ;)

Confirmed- Space Installation has no bodyid, it's a signalsource. This is all that shows in the Journal file for Fortuna/Baldwin Estate:

i have yet to figure out how long the trinket lasts for, but by that i mean how long it makes a sound, it still seems to alter some of the pilots reactions to you and have them attack on site
Pirates just scan me then attack as I'm carrying goods (Trinkets) - nothing new as far as I can see.

and 8th July was the release date for the beta, though clearly DB would have had access to it (and possibly at that time also the gamma?) before it was released

So maybe Raxxla has been in-game since the beta?

Edit3: the patch notes are here if you want to check, though more likely to be phrased as “mysterious things” than “Raxxla”

Thanks for the extensive reply!

If it was in game from Premium Beta, and if we assume that only accessible systems would count as "in game", then I think the list of accessible systems would be something like this:

Eranin
Asellus Primus
Ibootis
LP 98-132
Dahan
Aulin
Styx
LHS 3006

If it was actually added at an earlier stage it would be in one of a subset of those systems (the last three of the systems above being the most-recently-added). I presume the Alpha had only Eranin (not sure as I didn't take part in it), but perhaps that statement negates the whole point of what I'm saying, as it would be unlikely to be located in the very first system the game ever had.

(This is making a bunch of assumptions, e.g. that Raxxla is a thing in a system, and that it can't move etc etc.)

Of course Raxxla could also have been in game, but in an inaccessible system, which having typed all this out now seems more likely! (or my preferred theory: that it is witchspace, with hyperspace being the door/key).

disagree-see my earlier post about hyperspace.

Also the timeline - "hundreds of probes were sent out from the outset of space exploration". At maximum 7 ly per jump within three jumps (21 ly from Sol) there are 125 systems, 4 jumps (28 ly) there are 228 systems. But don't think practically early exploration would have chained too many jumps as reliability would have been low. And I suspect it would be unwise to be too hung up on the actual alpha/beta/gamma implementation, DB could have been talking about it at the time from a lore viewpoint...for example Sag A* was "out there" from a lore viewpoint from the outset of a 400 billion system galaxy implementaiton, but I don't think it was implemented in alpha or beta, may be in gamma? maybe later? AND also... since Beta release was the day after the BAFTA presentation where Drew talked to DB, then FD would already have been working on the gamma version...so I think the gamma was meant (& Im sure somewhere I've read/heard DB say it was gamma).

I think the codex is telling us the Omphalos Rift is the door. But where is it, and what's the key? Trinkets of Hidden Fortune? Something else??

today's comet hunting (because it's got to be "a tiny little bit obvious", and "exigeous" means "dimutive or tiny ")

@Pyroboros @Adel
Well, Fortuna has no comets!
But there are a couple of installations and three belt clusters. Just dropped out at an installation, Baldwin Estate, flown around it...
Then checked- it has a SignalName but NO bodyid in the journal! Place that isnt a place??

There are a couple more installations, but it’s getting too hot to do any more today.

Interesting observation, but yesterday I was comet hunting in another system and as I was approaching a comet signal two npc (fed military in this case) appeared out of it in SC, while just after I’d dropped out of SC at another comet an npc dropped in after me, but there was no pirate warning and he was clean, didnt attack me & no conversation...perhaps makes sense of all those npc SC trails that just appear or disappear in the black?
Not checked but i think no Installation has an ID. Like Carriers they also don't have IDs. No Idea how the Game knows were they should be placed. Maybe Server-side Database. I have no idea.
But it got me thinking about MegaShips (have to check Generation Shops at some time) they do have a BodyID. So in that other Post about GameCrash befor last ID (the only Station) Maybe that´s an reserved ID for a potential thingy Body MegaShip RA..... that can sometimes be there but mostly is somewhere else.
Need to check a known Mega Ship Route.

Are there any recordings of these sounds?

Historians Eratosthenes and Hyginus associated the constellation Virgo with Tyche (Fortuna), ‘eyes to see’?

John Milton describes Astraea (Urania) as Virgo in Paradise Lost. Milton also invokes Urania as a muse, and he himself was a musician who was an exponent of the ‘silent song’… Urania being one of the outermost spheres of the silent song?

John Milton was blind - eyes again?

Virgo was attributed likewise to Princesse (Queen) Elizabeth I as Astraea (Urania)?

Virgo was also seen as the spring goddess Persephone. Kore, Kira or Cora as well as Demeter (drunk / pirates)?

And Virgo contains the ‘Realm of the Galaxies’ which contains several thousand galaxies!

Is Virgo the mother (Demeter) of galaxies?

Yes - I picked them up in Anarchy nav beacons just recently.
If the noises die down after a period of time or.. x jumps.. should be determined as well as if the artifact switches hands does this cause them to 'reboot'?

On another note, I'm going to head to the Zurara this weekend but would love to have a trinket prior to the trip - for science of course. So I'll look at hittimg a anarchy nav beacon. Any specific targets I should aim for or just kill everyone?

you can kill if you want to

I have seen them floating for years after kills
but, I got mine by hatchbreaking all the cargo ships right in front of the letterbox of an anarchy station in an anarchy system.
no violence required.
seems most were bringing in stolen mining things and soooo many had these, so I finally grabbed a few.
