I wouldn’t look too much into it…Was DB ever fond of mythology? MB was obviously by the shirts he wears. But I'm also curious has he ever dive deep into secret societies, and or occults?
@Jorki Rasalas is going to just love this for reasons that will become apparently momentarily.
So yeah I was bored at a conference and reinstalled.
Got thinking about "a little bit obvious", and breadcrumbs.
First recorded report of Raxxla, Tau Ceti. Went there, did all the usual crap we always do, found nothing of interest. Sat in the main station, Ortiz Moreno. Wait a minute, who the heck is he? An astronomer of course. Famous for finding - a dwarf planet near Neptune, Haumea. And off we go to the Sol races. (There is also a system called Haumea if anyone wants to check it out, but if you find Raxxla we share the credits and fame, K? Spoilers, it is pretty dull) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/José_Luis_Ortiz_Moreno
So, Haumea you say: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haumea
Interesting, has two little moons formed after something big collided with it. More interesting, only one of said moons is in the game - Namaka is missing. Even more interesting, Namaka has an unusual, eccentric orbit, and the two moons play hide and seek with observers on Earth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moons_of_Haumea
So poking around we go, while continuing to madly click wikipedia links as the space madness sets in, again. Haumea (in Horizons at least) is a very run of the mill little ice body with some very deep crevasses, and a few small mountains. It looks at first glance like the crevasses might connect somewhere, like, oh., I don't know, at a big point of impact? Unfortunately it is hard to find, because;dark side and annoyances of trying to search a very small body from orbit. Haven't landed yet to go for a spin but will at some point.
Did some parallaxing with and without orbit lines turned on (damn I'm old school) but no hide nor hair of a hidden orbital station nor Namaka. Tried flying around in the orbit of Hi'iaka to cover every possible area within 1,000ls of my ship, but nothing on nav or contacts or that I could see, and no mysterious speed dropouts or warnings.
Also, Haumea has a ring that isn't in the game either (likely because it was only discovered in 2017, but geez Frontier, c'mon, keep up won't ya?).
Back to reading wiki, came across something guaranteed to drive Jorki round the bend (this is the best part) ;-)
So it seems whatever collided with Haumea not only created its two moons, but an entire family of objects known by the cool kids as the Haumeids. What are these you ask? Well, only 18 members of the Transneptunian collisional family of Jorki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haumea_family
I don't think any of these are in-game, but wouldn't it be fun to try to calculate their orbits/positions in game and go look for them to see if you can find them? Wouldn't it Jorki? Highlighted in green for you below and with more details on the page above, should be easy-peasy if you haven't even already found them all given your expertise in this area... ;-)

And of course there are all the usual interesting connections with various deities and their offspring and enemies and lovers &c. &c. from various cultures, but I will leave that to someone far more knowledgeable than I in such matters (@simulacrae @Rochester ) to set forth appropriate hypotheses in the scientific manner for testing. With a cool illustrated map I hope and lots of Hawaiian art.
And if you do, don't forget to outline an alternative hypothesis based on the original name Ortiz Moreno wanted to give Haumea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ataegina#Dwarf_planet
Just a little bit obvious right? Too obvious maybe?
PS Don't forget to double-check everything in Odyssey, with crappier chances of seeing anything in crap graphics using parallax.
PPS My working theory of course is that it was a space whale which collided with Haumea.
PPPS None of the Haumeids from that table appear to be in the Sol system. Which leads to the completely unrelated and likely irrelevant question, why are the trans-Neptunian objects 2002 MS4 and 2007 OR10? Smokescreen to distract us from the Haumeids and Namaka is what I say. The truth is out there. The great white space whale shall be found and we shall not be distracted from the hunt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/(307261)_2002_MS4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/225088_Gonggong
PPPPS I'll even make it simpler by providing all the orbits for Jorki: View attachment 319131
Try liners & trader ships (Dolphin, Adder, Type6 etc) in anarchy system at the nav beacon. Find a ship soon after it enters the nav beacon instance so it’s distant from the other ships. Once you’ve checked the cargo carried with manifest scanner and found some then target it, get near (within the range of your hatchbreaker limpets), fire one, stand by to retrieve the Trinket(s) dropped. You might need to deploy extra hatchbreakers. Collector limpets might help to get them as often the trader tries to retrieve them, as does every pirate within range, and they’re remarkably agile and quick in doing so! Yesterday I found a Dolphin with 10 at Orrere, managed to get 4....Once I find some I will!
I've got a few strings to tie up before I leave the bubble again and I want to have a couple for my voyage to the Zurarah.
I do wish we didn't need to... were forced to have cargo move between active ships. It would make my experiments much easier to do lol.
Yup…same here usually that’s because they’ve changed something!!!! Or had an internal server crash, which is more probable. Was the forum playing up for anyone else this morning? Page formatting was weird & unusable. Finally started working properly again...
Maybe MB’s Sun Dragon swallowed Raxxla and is now suffering from astronomical indigestion!Yup…same here usually that’s because they’ve changed something!!!! Or had an internal server crash, which is more probable.
Well I'm not triple (or quadruple) Elite, so there is always the incredibly slim possibility that that could trigger something whilst parallaxing about. I just hope it is not locked behind that (and that single Elite is enough in any of the three real categories) or locked behind some ridiculous level of engineering that you need to achieve before unlocking the final engineer who gives you a hint as to where to go. because;both those options would suck due to grind. Also hope it is not now only findable in Odyssey. (are you listening FD? Probably not).Mate, Ive been playing this “game” ( I thought they were supposed to be enjoyable pastimes?) since October 2015, given myself arthritic thumbs, De Quervains tendonitis, several bouts (alternating) of space madness and fernweh, and I’m looking for something with a weird name in a 400billion system galaxy sim but I don’t know what it is....
I’m already well round the bend!!!
I’m not obsessed with, nor proprietarial about, Sol; I just think from the codex, galnet and tourist beacon messages about the game lore that it’s more likely to be the hiding place than the other 400billion-1 systems, but I’m still looking in other systems within 159ly of Sol. If you have a hypothesis concerning Sol please feel free to explore it yourself!!!
I’ve searched Sol extensively - asteroid belts, all bodies, lagrange points, comets (since I found out that they exist & how to locate them!). Ive looked for interesting asteroids based on similarity of their astronomical symbol and the codex “logo”. Ive searched belts, canyons, station ex/interiors.... I found nothing unexpected! (apart from the green glows, but that seems to be a graphics shader refresh bug).
I go back to Pyroboros’ point- if we find a method (e.g. his comet hunting method) to track something down in-game that we think may be there we gain a new tool to determine whether or not Raxxla may be in a System. Now I thought Raxxla, or the Omphalos Rift (from the codex I believe this to be the “gateway” to Raxxla), must be an astronomical body, which means having a bodyid value generated by Stellar Forge. Of course Raxxla might be a ship or npc but that seems to me low probability. Everything else seems to have a bodyid, EXCEPT signal sources, and I’m now nonplussed by the fact that space installations appear to be special cases of signal sources with no bodyid. So which is Raxxla/Omphalos?
Your research about the Haumeids etc is interesting, but Ive checked the bodyids in Sol and they aint there, (unless they might appear under special circumstances as signal sources)...
Oh, and your thought about calculating orbits/positions in game is a non-starter as the in-game time/date doesn't seem to match with reality- its already been tried for other bodies.
But, have fun testing your hypotheses!![]()
Do you happen to remember... in the release, as far as I remember, there was no such detailed codex like now. Right? Then there was another loading screen, showing the station, some kind of moon and planet. But I don't remember about the codex, was it at allI’m not obsessed with, nor proprietarial about, Sol; I just think from the codex, galnet and tourist beacon messages about the game lore that it’s more likely to be the hiding place than the other 400billion-1 systems, but I’m still looking in other systems within 159ly of Sol. that's right. The codex only came in a little while ago with Beyond Chapter 4, see https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet/uid/5c0fadbfa9a9182e01271bb2Do you happen to remember... in the release, as far as I remember, there was no such detailed codex like now. Tried it this afternoon in Horizons...still no sounds that I can detect! You don't drop them, it's the ship that makes the sound while they are in your cargo
Wait so it's possible we have something like that in our system?
And why Haumea, but only one of its two moons...The research paper is here...
Abstract: We present an updated dynamical and statistical analysis of outer Oort cloud cometary evidence suggesting the sun has a wide-binary Jovian mass companion. The results support a conjecture that there exists a companion of mass ≈ 1 − 4 MJupiter orbiting in the innermost region of the outer Oort cloud. Our most restrictive prediction is that the orientation angles of the orbit normal in galactic coordinates are centered on Ω, the galactic longitude of the ascending node = 319◦ and i, the galactic inclination = 103◦ (or the opposite direction) with an uncertainty in the normal direction subtending ≈ 2% of the sky. A Bayesian statistical analysis suggests that the probability of the companion hypothesis is comparable to or greater than the probability of the null hypothesis of a statistical fluke. Such a companion could also have produced the detached Kuiper Belt object Sedna. The putative companion could be easily detected by the recently launched Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE).
"To help mitigate popular confusion with the Nemesis model (Whitmire and Jackson ( 1984), Davis et al. ( 1984)) we use the name recently suggested by Kirkpatrick and Wright (2010), Tyche, (the good sister of Nemesis) for the putative companion."

Tyche may be bigger than Jupiter and orbit at the outer edge of the solar systemwww.independent.co.uk
I do wonder why they put in Persephone in the game as I think that particular theory was disproved by voyager 2 correcting Neptune's mass when it did a fly by.... Especially as it was added in Horizons 2.2 when Sedna was put in ("StellarForge - Added Persephone (Planet Nine), Haumea, Makemake, Eris, Orcus, 2002 MS4, Salacia, Quaoar, 2007 OR10 and Sedna to Sol - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/elite-dangerous-the-guardians-2-2-update.300177/ ")
Tyche/Planet X would have been a more recent theory to put in the game in my humble opinion as they haven't been completely disproved as yet....
EDIT: Almost forgot to mention... something else in the patch notes "- Speculative fix for intermittently disappearing stations/systems in overriden generated systems"![]()
