Here is an example. The last three chats I was in I was trying to find out whether anyone knew for sure if there was a guardian HomeWorld or home system out there, or whether the developers had even introduced yet. Does a group like Canon who has had five years of experience looking at these things have an opinion about whether there is a way to unlock the Guardian systems, or do they all believe that the developers are just blocking us from making progress. These are some of the questions I presented. I got zero answers. Literally a chat room full of befuddlement like no one had ever thought of it before. When I asked them about the possibility of excavation, they were all like, IDK.
Doesn’t sound like a lot of motivated people are in this group. Just a couple of guys that want to brag about how many times they have repeatedly gotten sound analysis from an obelisk. But not tested the sound anywhere else at the site.
When I ask your group for a simple answer to gain context and no one can decide that means you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s almost like you guys are afraid to have opinions.

Everyone, even organizations, have a sordid past...

Here is mine. When I was 14 my parents dumped me on the side of a highway. I’ve been on my own ever since. But that’s not what’s going through my mind when I want to organize an expedition in a video game. Keep your sordid past out of your entertainment along with your politics. They will only make you miserable in the one place you’ve come to escape.

It is both. Since the street life was my only context, my character comes from a similar background. Except that she is a wanted fugitive who has been blamed for the disaster she fled from.
My point was, when you get into a research group that everyone is taking cues from, your sordid past becomes your past. Leave it at the door. I don’t bring my past into this and neither should anyone else. Especially when you consider that there are mountains of gamers that depend on cannons information to navigate this universe. It means you have an obligation as part of the group To come to some kind of consensus and at least be able to offer some kind of guidance. Otherwise what are you there for?

You have to have a view to begin with. No one seems to have a solid point of view. And the new materials I’ve submitted weren’t even glanced at let alone reviewed. So this is not an organization. It’s a group of individuals who are out for themselves, and they are just sharing their findings openly.

That is the true nature of Canonn. There are many other fine organisations in the Galaxy that you can join. If none are to your taste then there is nothing stopping you forming your own.

In fact many people join Canonn so that they can recruit people into their own organisations and that is OK.

There are many people who belong to Canonn and other organisations.

When people don't know the answer to your question they will tend to say nothing rather than say "I don't know the answer" if all the people on the server did respond that way it would look pretty weird.

Some of your questions are about things that nobody can know because it is flavour text and doesn't really exist in the game.

An intelligent person joins a research group for scientific consensus. This is what a research group does. They need to call themselves canon affiliates. And drop the research group title, because it gives the illusion that it is an organized group that is actively trying to solve scientific mysteries.

Ugh! That’s what I’m telling you! They don’t know what exists in the game!
And my big problem with the group so far is, nobody’s really motivated. They are not motivated to know what even exists and what is a waste of time. Five years of listening to obelisks but nothing else.

When it comes to science we are all subservient to evidence, facts and proof not to some organisational hierachy. You can report your findings in the approriate labs on the discord, That is what they are for. You can write a paper for review and submission if you don't want your thoughts lost in the general chatter and if warranted ask one of the mods to have it pinned. You report your findings to the group not some superior.

Yes, people keep telling me I can submit materials. No one is telling me where. I have no idea where to send anything. This is my plight!!! If there is a structure here, someone needs to explain it to me because I have no idea who to send any of this stuff to

My impression is they monitor the 'labs' and the EDMC feeds -- then they go do their own research. -- These public rooms are just HUMINT for them. that is all. -- The research they do is kept private until they have something.
