Winter DLC Speculation

Not gonna lie. After red fox i would prefer literally anything else over raccoon dog in speculative Island Animal Pack.
I think japanese serow makes more sense, if you are really into japan. Such area would look thousand times better with native ungulate than 2 fox-like creatures.

I also think we need a break from the canines now, or maybe a full stop depending on the number of DLCs we got left.
Even the popular maned wolf would be better to save for later I think. It goes by the nickname red fox on stilts after all.

And I have the exact opposite stance. Getting the red fox has just made my desire for the tanuki that much stronger. Tanuki and kitsune go hand in hand in so much mythology, and so many resultant cultural aspects, I'd love nothing more than to have them side by side in a zoo.

Yep. Personally i don´t want a tanuki in the game, a bit ugly animal for me.What we need now are more South american and Oceania representations

Just looked it up. The New Zealand lesser short-tailed bat at least isn't kept in any EAZA Zoos. Wouldn't be suitable for Walkthrough Exhibits anyways because they stay on the Ground a lot which might get dangerous for them
Auckland Zoo tried to keep them but AFAIK it didn't work out. I don't know the details.

I would love tanukis, but they aren't as essential for me that we've got racoons. I know. I know. They aren't the same and they don't look the same, but they look a lot closer than the red pandas I was using as a substitute.

Japanese Serrow is higher up my priority list since they are somewhat common in zoos and I have a soft spot for odd ungulates.

Guys, i need to ask: why is the tanuki so desired? For me is like very very bizarre and strange, my lowest wishlist animal in the game, but im interesed of your opinion and why do you want in the game this animal

How is it more bizzare than a pig whose tusks grow out of its head, a mammal with a duck beak that lays eggs or a giant bird with blue head that looks like a dinosaur? It is a fluffy and cute dog creature, not really surprising it is popular with people.

Not gonna lie Humans are hands down among the most bizarre animals. Hairless, super intelligent apes that can survive in basicly every single environment on earth due to super advanced tool making

It all comes down to having opposable thumbs.

About species popularity, I think every animal would be wanted by at least someone. I think there's many that would be someone's favorite. We are a multitude of opinions and desires and everyone's are different. I think that's wonderful, it would be a boring world if we all wanted the exact same thing.

Plus, and I keep saying this, with the conservation pack we got the last two - and possibly three - animals that would traditionally be asked for to minimally complete the roster - excluding flying and marine animals. - A leopard - a very notable and well known animal, that was high profile here by the fact it wasn't in the game, much more than it now being in the game could ever warrant. The Przewalski's Horse, an animal that carries a legacy and notability of the impact of conservation efforts, along with a second equid. The Gibbon - the last representative of the overarching group of Apes.

I feel like everything left is honestly personal taste and not going to be agreed upon by a majority. This is not a bad thing by the way. It's how we are now at getting more offbeat, lesser known animals into the game. But that creates a smaller group of individuals who are vying for particular animals, much less what their most wanted animal will be. Not everything is going to be to everyone's taste (hello, striped skunk!) but we need to get used to it with the rest of the packs because they're at a point they can't please everyone with every animal released. Hopefully from the time from initial launch to game's end, they will have added in most of everyone's most wanted animals from launch, but we're not all going to get every animal we want.

I feel really happy, every single one of the animals that were my top 10 wants from launch day have now made it in. Oceania's a bit on the lite side still, but I can look at it and say "okay, I've got all the animals I must have to represent it in", I just would like more. I'm still wanting more, and like everyone else, what's "most wanted" will change over the run of the game, if their current most wanted gets included.
