Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Turns out that ammonia worlds can actually be completely calm and tranquil, as long as you avoid sunsets.

Because that's when the monsters start to wake up.

Sticking to noon landings on ammonia worlds from here on!

Another solid victory! Just over 2mCR for this medium one. Not bad.

And yet another CZ on the dark side of a planet.
2mCR for a medium isn't bad at all. I think the best I've done so far on a medium is about 900,000 CR, although I still need upgrades for my weapons and maybe my suit as well.

I'm about 4,500 LY from Sol now on my latest exploration trip and still following a route towards the Temple Region. Getting plenty of first discoveries and first maps. Found quite a few water worlds and terraforming candidates but thought I'd land on this planet to do a bit of prospecting, not because I badly need any materials but just to make a change and break up the seemingly never-ending monotony of jumping, fuel scooping, honking, mapping and then rinsing and repeating...

I should mention that the ship Engineering system is intentionally designed to get players to do stuff they would not ordinarily do. The idea is that if you are introduced to these things in the game, you might find that you enjoy them after all.

Thus, in order to do Engineering, you'll find that many of the requirements have you doing stuff you've never done, or even stuff you don't want to try. It's just part of the system.

In the end it's been good for me -- I've learned a ton of stuff by doing the various engineer unlocks. But some of it has been quite frustrating at times too.

So don't get too discouraged :)
I figured that this would be the intention of these requirements.

Luckily, this game does not really force you to do things you do not like. They might make it a requirement somewhere so you can have the experience and see if this is for you, but there is enough to do besides that, so you do not have to do something you do not like, in the long run.

WEP capacitor emty? Out of ammo?
Nope, none of that. I tried to take down a pirate that jumped me during a trade mission, I had reloaded and refueled at the station, plus I have plenty of headroom for power. I tested the Corvetter (empty space no target) the 4A Multi-cannon works well.
I don't know what it is but I'll change the weapons once RTBed, Plasma Accelerator and Thermal Vent long range laser....

You really should create an account over at INARA. It makes life in this game a great deal easier to organize.
Sounds like a good idea. Even though my playstyle is not really organized (see below)... 😅
I don't really know how anyone could properly keep track of what materials they need for the engineering projects they plan to do without Inara. It's the only Elite Dangerous 3rd party tool I support via Patreon- as of last week.
I am quite spontaneous about what I do next, thus no real planning here. My only preparation would be to see that I collected enough materials to at least be able to get the stuff I need at a local mat trader.

Anyway apart for my CPU cooler sounding like a WW1 Singer sewing machine (I ordered a new one), my upgrade runs smooth.

The RAM doesn't pick up heat even at 3600MHz and I just learned that I could gain a few % more speed with an MSI setting in BIOS that allows for CPU boost, but before I do anything about that, I'll contact MSI support for advise, I don't want to burn the CPU cache and I need the best setting to take advantage of this RAM.

The idea is to bound the CPU/RAM< combination as well as possible to the next upgrade, an AMD RX 7900 XTX when it becomes available next month.

For the time being, I'm on my way back to Wolf 363 with 639 tons of Jaques Quinentian Still which I need to sell.

This is true. If you want armour engineering, mine 500t of something. Shield engineering to grade 5 - trade with at least 50 markets. Thruster engineering - travel (explore) at least 5,000ly from your original start location. And so on....

It was those 10 CZs that made me the gun slinging, screaming madman with the thousand yard state I am today
I think you misspelled stair. ;)

I am registered on Inara and use it for many things but planning is definitely not one of them, except in as far as I will use it to see what I need to find when I randomly decide to engineer something.
To be honest as I tend to load up with any sort of material I find this level of planning is something I don’t need to do as much now.

Fire ngroup 1. Combat Mode. Standard. The autocannons on my /cutter have stop firing at once, I'm considering changing the 4A Multi-cannon for a Beam Laser long range/Thermal Vent so I can use plasma accelerators or other high DPS weapons and not overheat. I'm worried for my Corvette...
4A's take some time to warm up. I recall also thinking they weren't working when I first got them.

Came across a Terraformable water world, I think it's worth some moola.

I haven't seen these in about 15,000Ly, found them on a moon with a 100% water atmosphere.

A little bacteria for flavor and I'm outta here.

Different moon, same with these Concha's, haven't seen this type in a while.

Just installed my double engineered Johnson rods on my landing struts enabling me to land virtually anywhere as long as one touches the ground.... (y)
