I have Beta access, but after reading the forum I have not bothered and tbh am dreading 1.1 release.
From what I have read from the forums.
1. Missile Nerfs
2. Python Nerfs
But they are totally changing the lasers, they now generate heat and if you run beam lasers, expect to overheat and damage your hull. Great let us mess with something that works un announced when there are many other broken things.
3. Light on planets and dashboard
4. Horrid community play additions not worth getting at all excited about
5. Landing pads STILL broken
6. Massive and worse frame rates and instances of DK2 being destroyed.
Just read the forums and you will see the comments and main parts.
I reckon the forums will be a troll fest when it goes live.
I have to agree, it feels gimmicky to me also. In the newly made beta 1.1 forum section there are a few dev posts here and there scattered around but the huge majority dont touch on the subjects we are bringing up for them. this was the same with Alpha, Beta and Gamma i found. The standard response is "ticket" - which of course we do but get no reply on for months on end or ever in many cases. The same bugs keep coming up over and over again. The current beta still has the stuttering planet thing for instance that has been around since early "beta" nearly a year ago.
Could it possibly be that we are supposed to TEST the functionality of community goals in order to provide feedback to Frontier that the progress bar is a bit too slow? Perish the thought...
No, it doesn't.
This appears to be the case. I haven't raised any tickets for 1.1 yet, but have seen plenty of comments from people who have (and have had quick responses).This. I hope 1.1's tickets have someone dedicated to them - else 1.1 will be 1.2 by the time 1.1's tickets get dealt with. Generally, gave up with the ticket system in favour of the forum months ago.![]()
it's not the fault of the developers that the game was released prematurely.
Haha, so true. More like the comments section of the Daily mail online. Terrible to read but strangely addictive.
Can we just close this completely unconstructive troll thread please?
I've nothing against critique but at least attempt some vague notion of it being feedback rather than trollism.
Developers != Executive. I doubt Joe Cobraenginedeveloper had much say in when the game's release date was set.Except it is if they also self publish.... as FD did...
Everyone's supposed to test the game mechanic by repeating the same cargo run delivering food to a starport that just wants so many thousands of tons of food. There's a progress bar showing how much has been delivered just like on Blue Peter. In return for taking part you get 5% off metals at the starport for 2 days. If you deliver the most out of all participants you get 20,000CR as well.

If anyone not on the Beta is wondering about FD's wonderful new update, here's the lowdown:
Everyone's supposed to test the game mechanic by repeating the same cargo run delivering food to a starport that just wants so many thousands of tons of food. There's a progress bar showing how much has been delivered just like on Blue Peter. In return for taking part you get 5% off metals at the starport for 2 days. And that's it. About 200 people have bothered to have a go at it and the progress bar's at about 6%, and it's not clear if enough Beta players will want to bother completing this pathetic excuse for co-operative play. They should send FD a message by boycotting Beta altogether and get on with boosting their rating in the real game instead. But they'd rather argue about whether the city lights are realistic enough or brag about how they've explored 37,000 light-years of empty star systems in Beta so that they get no credit for it in-game, or something equally irrelevant or obsessively dull.
FD couldn't have made their implementation of co-operative play any less fun or exciting no matter how hard they'd tried. So much for players' advertising their own missions on the bulletin boards, trading with each other, hiring each other, organizing raids, official races and tournament play with entry fees and cash prizes, all the exciting stuff that co-operative play was supposed to be about. So much for co-operative play then.
This is FD's first big update, and it's totally pathetic. There's no reason not to expect more of the same in future.
Oh but at least I finally got my Founder's Decal. But it's not golden or anything.[masked swearing redacted - please avoid this thank you]
Yes, we will see the station during construction. Have you not seen the picture released of the partially built Orbis Starport? (It's in the newsletter).
Gonna repeat myself here. I doubt it will make a difference, it hasnt yet. We need full on sandbox emergent gameplay, with player clans, things we can build and sell(ships, stations, equipment, battleships), a player driven economy rather than a scripted one, areas of the galaxy we as a clan can run and fight with others for control. Yeah, bit more like EvE in that respect. I could see years of fun gameplay from that instead of creating more grinds which yield little reward for the player.
It could be epic..
