So yeah, the more people that help find bugs the less bugs release will have. Of course a lot will go "why would I need to do their work!?" which I think is sad, if you don't want to do what a beta really is...don't be in the beta, wait for release.

Idealy yes but we all have read posts that stated this and that important bug was identified many times in beta but was not fixed before launch nor was it afterwards. instead, it is left to infect the game until the next Major patch or just finally yanked out of the game.

2.1 IS the most important patch since Elite's release, considering what it's supposed to touch.

If they do a goid job or they screw up is to be seen.

(I don't expect it to be as polished as the delay PR might let you think. I'm pretty sure they're running for it. For that reason we won't get any dev news even this week)

I figure a lot of us will be running into a slew of bugs during the beta which is fine. It's a dramatic change to the game so bugs are par for the course. Bugs or not, it'll be a drastic change to current gameplay. That's a good thing imo.

All I say is they better start the hype train soon by unzipping their collective mouths and starting to post more peeks, and videos of gameplay something to tide over all the people who funded this endeavor.

You don't really understand company accounts do you. Taking a deferred draw down on monies until the next financial year for taxation is a normal business practice. They were (and had to be) open and honest in their report to the LSE... Trying to twist that to your own interpretation does not change what they have done.

This naturally has an effect on share prices as investors see that they may not get the dividend they desired.
