You did "With my ship".

No. You can't. You can only log into someone else's chair. You have to come back to your own originating ship's chair.

I said if I can move to your ship instantly I should be able to move to another of my ships.

That is fairly obvious that "my ship" means a ship that I own, not that I'm going to take my conda and try and fit it in the cockpit of my python!

If I can log into your chair from my basement in cubeo I should be able to log onto my pythons chair from my basement in cubeo

Alternatively if I have to fly all the way to my pythons chair I should have to fly all the way to your chair.

That is basic logic.

Like I said, I don't care which they do, all I want is a logically consistent universe for me to play in.

We know you can't, but there is no logic to it. It is inconsistant and makes a mockery of the ingame lore. Why can't I telepresence into another one of my ships elsewhere in the galaxy and fly it to wherever I want to.

I know it isn't being implemented, but if this unlimited range telepresence crap gets implemented it makes the game lore a complete joke. It's laughable that anyone could come up with such an awful system.

I can live with the telepresence with your ship fighter as it only has a 30km range. Now all of a sudden it is unlimited. I should be able to telepresence into my fighter and send my ship back to a station via the NPC and keep it nice and safe, or the go somewhere else safe.

It needs to be consistant otherwise it just looks cheap and lazy. If this is how it will work, this will be my first major disapointment with the game, because it is just bad.

I can live with it, but I don't really want to have to live with it, I want it consistant.

There is. If you allow that then the meaning of game play is gone. If you want an in-game reason, if you use telepresence too often, then people will hack into your datastream and reprogramme your brain. Or trace it back to where your ship is, with the defenceless occupant, shiv them and steal the ship.

Job done.

Indeed, what was the cheapest, nastiest, most shallow option concerning ship transfer? - instant was, what is the cheapest, nastiest, most shallow option concerning multicrew? - this telepresence nonsense is.......and here was I hoping Frontier may have learned a lesson from past mistakes.......silly me.

Can you make Elite: Dangerous delay start-up based on the previous game played, thanks.

If I'm switching from Skyrim to Elite, there should be a good few thousand years in between to preserve that oh so precious sense of immersion.

Not sure how you'll handle someone loading up Skyrim *after* playing Elite. Time machine I guess?

Whilst I do think insta-transfer sucks, I honestly believe FD have gone with insta-transfer, no NPC crew from gameplay reasons, to make playing with friends easier and to increase the population in Open mode. I do not tihnk it is to do with cheapness.

Careful you are getting me White Knighting it now :)

I was dead set against magic ship transfer. However instant transfer for crew is the only way I can see it ever working given no NPC crew to take over which IMO would have been the logical solution.

There is only 1 scenario where I can see instant player transfer hurting anyone outside of the ship is in potential PvP ..... But I would not expect FD to block entire mechanic just for rare PvP scenario (ie even in PvP it'd not happen often IMO)

How is me being able to log in to my python 200ly away going to remove the meaning of game play yet logging into your ship 200ly away somewhere else isn't?

That's about the worst argument I've ever seen!

This, plz :)

Perhaps we should focus on now having a 3rd person cam? I expected the boards to be ash due to that.....

Hehe! - I can't believe I'm apparently on the other side of the fence now, I've been called a 'white knight' many, many times on these boards, now I'm camped firmly in the bleaters/whiners/moaners camp apparently. :D

Onto your point, the cheapness in this comes in the simplicity in terms of how this is implemented and the lack of scope, (combat only, no NPC's etc). The comparisons for me with the ship transfer debate are vivid, as then, Frontier now are going down a route they cannot walk away from, will struggle to build upon and which will give a huge middle finger to the lore of the Elite universe.

Never said it would. You asked why you couldn't.

NOTE: The quote reymondo was "replying" to there was mine in response to this post:

I don't understand why do we have delayed ship transfers, while on the other hand we can hop back and forth from one side of the galaxy to another in one click. I thought that the former was put in place so that the sense of distance and size of the game world is not completely lost?

BTW I don't care about Elite's lore because it's so incoherent and contradicting it's almost funny. I am only thinking about the gameplay. So, can we have instant ship transfers, please?

You don't.

In Elite, "You" are your ship. SC has "You" as the one sitting in the ship. In X, you don't even see "You", because you are an empire spanning many sectors and just happen to be sitting all of the time in a ship.

No. If you don't want to fly your ship, you should not have bougth a game where you fly your ship. You can go buy a new ship and remote sell the old one if you want a different ship where you are.

I think we should focus our attention on how shallow and pathetic multicrew is in terms of gameplay rather than debating on how instatravel interferes with our immersion.

Agree with this, they seem to of gone for the most basic elements possible, 2 minor unexciting roles with no use other than in combat...highly disappointed and will not bother taking part in the beat.
