This isn't the dark ages. For 9/10 games these days, one of the first things you do is trawl the forums....or is that just me?
I suspect people do come here, but then quickly turn round and leave again.

I think it's cool myself. You'll not be getting the full experience of "owning a ship somewhere else" (only the ship owner can take helm, from Sandro's dev update) .. and some basic quantum tunnelling tech explains information sending, at super-luminal, lag free speeds over distance.
(Plus it gives FD chance to develop core crew UI, isolate commanders from ships and start testing the nesting).
I forsee player ads, coming soon .. "available for hire, one gunner (1048 confirmed kills, no active bounties)"
Then they deserve to live in abject ignorance. Forums are a constant source of entertainment and information in themselves. When the game kicks you in the nads, come to the forum to understand why or vent, rant and argue until a temple vein bursts.I suspect people do come here, but then quickly turn round and leave again.
But this doesn't explain why everything isn't controlled by telepresence.
If you have telepresence, you don't need a pressurized cockpit. Expense saved.
Personnel are expensive to train, why would you risk losing them by putting them in a dangerous, uncontrolled environment like a ship? Just telepresence it, bro.
Why are we manually bringing exploration data back to Universal Cartographics? Quantum tunnel that stuff back for an instant payday. That's the ticket.
Why do I need to dock at specific stations to collect bounties? That stuff should be wired directly to my account as soon as I pop the Joe.
Etc....
So either it isn't Telepresence, or Telepresence is the future and we're all out of a job.
What makes you think it's NOT currently all controlled by Telepresence? This would actually fit in PERFECTLY with the existing mechanic of why we can be blown up, and all we have to do is pay money to buy a ship with the same specs as our last one. I like it![]()
Then they deserve to live in abject ignorance.
Does this qualify as a 'Bazinga'?Because we also suffocate due to lack of oxygen?
Weird, perhaps it was all telepresents all along, and we really ARE the CMDRS. [woah]
But this doesn't explain why everything isn't controlled by telepresence.
I actually think this is almost plausible - when we 'die' all we have to do is re-buy a ship with the same specs as our last one. I think it only falls apart when you have storylines in Galnet about people travelling places, or getting killed etc...but maybe there's both physical travel, yet the majority of us CMDRs are Telepresence![]()
Well, somebody needs to do it.I think Frontier would do well by putting you in charge of communications.
I don't think you can send enough information.
OK for a gunner .. point, shoot and pips. But .. navigation, map interfaces, energy managment, docking requests, full ship control .. it's a lot I think for a quantum tunnel, which would be fast over great distances, instantaneous in fact but would (highly likely) be low in bits per second (would work more or less like sending Morse Code .. tap tap tapping on the entangled particles (which are already oscillating in the (Heisenburg) uncertainty sense naturally so as you up your bits per sec, uncertainty becomes noise, you're operating closer to those shorter, quantum, wavelengths). To send more bits you'd need more entangled particles, and a bigger decoder).
So how does that theory extend to telepresencing yourself to a ship, and then to a ship launched fighter?
This also doesn't explain why basic exploration data can't be sent..
you know people make too much of a mess on the Forum when mods start a mega-Thread![]()
