Exactly what I need to get dirty drives for my iEagle...should i install it? What could go wrong?

Well, if these wrecks are AI, then using the soft/firmware for ship upgrdaes, & taking the data core dumps to stations, could cause a real problem for humanity when the AI gets upset with us- all the human bubble stations will probably become permanently hostile!!

So pieceing together what I've read.
And also having seen one myself

Here's a thought...

Perhaps a station like Jacques was making a trip.
Perhaps it had a small fleet of escorts.

And maybe just maybe during a jump through wytchspace, something happened to the fsd,and it's firmware?
Perhaps whatever it is they detected?

So has Jacques himself exhibited any strange behaviour since his misjump experience? Could he have been "infected" by AI?

Some people have reported there are strange knocking noises in some of the diamondback wrecks. I haven't seen it myself, but recordings were posted and it sounds *exactly* like there is something nasty trapped in the cargo bay.

Jaques. It's hard to determine what is strange behavior in a situation such as his. FD setup a story (which was still readable in his station local news last i checked) that was sent to various station sin the bubble in garbled form (not garbled at his station). This story spoke of damage and being alone and lights and singing and being forced out of hyperspace. This was completely ignored when he was found, his station is not damaged (aside from UA technical issues), there were tons of people with him (700ish) and his interviews with galnet spoke of no such mysterious singing or lights etc.

So strange behavior? You could say that he is a completely different person from the person sending out those distress calls. Or you could say that FD botched their own retcon to their botched jaques event by leaving the local news intact. One is true.

Hi there.
I was reading a few posts in this thread but not much. Looking at all pages if the following has been discovered already, but I didn't find anything.

So here we have the message:

And here is the number of the station wreck

I was looking closer, but I was unable to find other features such as letters numbers or signs.

Thanks, I think that's a new one, and very interesting. So, what "agencies" do we know of?

2. Also found a busted up Viper(?) with the pilot still in the seat(!)
There is no pilot, when you zoom in you get a completely different Picture.

The FAS has a "FDS" decal on the side... I wonder what mysteries lie there...
I think it means "Federal Dropship", probably FD being a little lazy while creating the Assault and Gunship some time after the Dropships introduction.

I have no idea what agencies there are, nor how much Lys 1 jump is. It could be a thargoidish long distance, it could also be as much as 5-10 Lys.

Personally, I would rule out Generation Ships. They didn't have the technology we're using today, and the former inhabitants of that Station/ship talk about data that is related to modern FSD technology. There also aren't any agencies they could go to, to transport data to them, as the space surrounding Sol was largely unknown and unpopulated. After all those years, they would've been somewhere far outside the bubble, and if some of those Generation Ships stranded somewhere inside the area we know as the bubble, we would have found them already. Were talking HUGE ships here and surely, those would have entirely different architecture and design compared to what we know today.

Sorry for the vague-post:

I was in an Encoded Emissions signal source, with the usual spinning wreck, but no data beacon. Not unusual, but I randomly decided to deploy the discovery scanner just to see what happened...

All the ship parts stopped spinning.

I don't know whether I imagined this, and due to the NVIDIA/SLI driver issues, ShadowPlay wasn't working to capture it. I'll repeat the experiment again next time I find myself in an EE, but I wondered if other people had witnessed this.

Wow.. saldy I don't have room for a scanner now, but I will check as soon as I change the ship (currently in the middle of a job). Thanks for reporting!

I found one in the Todds base. Since I had to go and didn't have time to investigate, I didn't bother with screenshots. It looked like a long corridor.

is this still active?

this thread seems a little old - has the mystery been solved ? i've just found a couple of these in an otherwise uninhabited system ...

I saw one those recently... never gave it another thought though... doh. Wreck Module 23810-06 by the looks of it.

edit... Ah... old thread reanimated

I JUST got a "tip off" message when delivering evacuees from a station where a system is under thargoid threat. After delivering some ~600 passengers I got the message "tip off" and it lead me to

pleiades sector IH-V c2-16
D 2
lat 4.54
lon 138.94
When I got there, i investigated it in pretty good detail and noticed it had the same hull marking "23810-01" but the message is entirely different. it read back

"Commander's Log:
the hunger is starting to get to me...I've started seeing things. I know the deep-space explorers like to tell stories, but these light shows are something else.
They almost seem alive."]
Not sure if these have been updated to allude to thargoids coming- maybe a different race entirely like hell divers is doing with alumni lol-
but really though-
why would i JUST get a message about this that would lead me toa forum from 2016. its dead af. the only difference is the messages are changed? idk...

Google suggests a different 2016 thread specifically on the tip-off affair and its log entries, including yours here.

I've only read a few posts in either thread, so I don't know if the link between the light show tip-off message and the 23810 business has been made before.

Yes Tip-offs are an entirely different thing to what this 8 year old thread is about. So I'm letting it go back to sleep.
