2yrs and counting...

A new way of scanning is new content. Just not the content that some people wanted.
No, they did not add content, they just made the existing content require more steps to acquire, and the steps, imo, are merely a time gate. The only thing that was a value add is that you can actually map POIs, but that still is something you have to fly to the planet for, meaning the end stage mechanics changed, while the game play loop hasn't.

Oh we have. Many of us have gone from playing almost everyday to not playing at all. A resounding success for consumer relations from FDev.
You're not wrong, well, in some respects. I still play now and then. Playing right now actually, and FSSing every system I jump to tonight just for the heck of it. The game hates me; I hate the game. We have a healthy understanding of each other. ;)

Frontier though, I'm not sure.

In the grand scheme of things, given that player numbers have been getting higher over the last couple of years... A drop in the ocean. Just like I was in LOTRO.
I installed that game just to make some characters and check out the world. I guess you could say I got this game just to check out the galaxy and mess with piloting some sci-fi spaceships. Seems apt enough I suppose.

Until the next big thing comes along. Space games are niche and always have been. FDev can magically buck the trend by bringing us Counter-Strike in Space until the novelty wears off.

Really? So the game has been changed towards being compatible with a stereotyped mentality of a fortnite player (especially the fss), yet the growth in elite has been much more gentle.

A curious one for both us and frontier. Does anyone have a firm grip on what's going on?

Are you working overtime? ;)

What exactly is the stereotyped mentality of a fortnite player? I've never played it myself, but as I don't mind the FSS I guess I must have it. Of course the growth in Elite has been more gentle, because Fortnite is a F2P game. Although when Elite was released on Epic, 24 hours after release there had been 176,779 ships in one of the starter systems

Who says and how long do they stay?

You can't keep stuffing the game into the bargain bucket, or even start giving it away, forever for injections of short-term players. Most people who are interesed in the genre would've bought it in the first place.

Well i overhear the neighbours playing it, and they don't seem to be into computers or general gaming.. so how about features designed for people who don't necessarily play games or even want to be playing games. Sorry just being dumb. I hear its very deep.

All last year, quality of life was built to remove gameplay that many people don't have a problem with. Ie, from sitting behind a hotas, you had to wonder why frontier were spending their limited time creating features that were out this world not for you. You play the game, why would you want to not play it? It makes sense, but it was very clear what they were doing.

The new way to do it is new content. There was no FSS before, its a new mechanic. Unless you want to claim mechanics are not content. Then we have a disagreement in semantics.

I don't get this. The sterotypical Fortnite player would find the FSS confusing.

As a side note, i played Fortnite and so did my kids. Are you disparaging Fortnite players?

The FDev MO. Gate absolutely everything behind asinine mini-games and call it 'content'. Maybe they could try using a bit of imagination.

Frontier say, though I don't know how long they stay.

Before the Epic version, the game had been steadily growing to the point around the Fleet Carriers release where there was the highest concurrent number of players. (just a shame the launch didn't go to smoothly) If most people who were interested in the genre brought it already, why are the newcomers forums and places like the Galactic Academy discord constantly seeing new people 🤷‍♂️ One of those things I guess.

Though I think it's quite obvious that you wouldn't accept any kind of information or proof as justification.

Coming up with a new interface and a new way of tuning signals to use the radio waves emitted by stellar bodies, combining it with the sounds taken from arctic research stations of actual space! And you think they still need to use a bit of imagination lol.

I'm really sorry, but I don't understand what you're trying to get at with this comment at all.
