Bit random but this thread looks to be pure gold for FPS tips and advice.

Rubbish at FPS games. What can I do in Odyssey to ease me in?

O7 all I'm an experienced horizons player & am going to buy Odyssey now it seems the stuttering settlement issue has been resolved. However, I usually play 4X / Grand Strategy games and suck at FPS. Can anyone pls give me some FPS hints / tips "easy" starter missions / missions to avoid /...

I've added a long overdue link to @Jack Shaftoe's excellent and very well maintained "ED Calendars" (a calendar of in and out of game events that's available in both Google Calendar and ical format) to the "manuals, guides and other stuff for new players" section.

In addition Jack also asked me to shout out the following which is an IFTTT applet that will notify you on your phone or mobile device when new Galnet articles are published, allowing you to keep up with these things out of game!

If a new item appears on Elite Dangerous Galnet News notify me

Not had a chance to try it yet as my ageing iPad is too old to support the IFTTT app :(.
