A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

Cycle tic information is making me worry on how Super Power bounty change is going to affect factions across th board, not just Independents.

The increase in influence is uncertain for me, but the split is obvious.

Systems with more than one of a particular superpower affiliated faction is going to gradually drive naturally towards conflicts as a by-product of this.

It doesn't rationalize well to me, as it will stagnate faction growth by forcing excessive conflicts like this - but is this perhaps the goal of it?

I will be testing it on a daily basis...

Our only hope is that you might actually learn something about the BGS and grow into your self-proclaimed role as defender of the Empire (although you should probably do the defending part and stop annoying Empire groups. Just a suggestion.)

Don't you get bored of doing the same thing night after night after night without it having any real effect? And I'm not talking about touching yourself.

Any other independent player factions able to gain influence? Last two days we have lost influence and have over 10 CMDRs running missions. Before update we were gaining 5% daily. Myself did 40 missions yesterday. Either some kind of bgs bug or all of a sudden many cmdrs running missions against us. Or we getting screwed by bounties in a system with no rings.

What is the system traffic reports like? High enough traffic could show that you have that much opposition.

Bounties got a buff plus the change on superpower bounties. Is there a local Superpower affiliated faction there? What happened to the system influence for the other factions?

Traffic reports seem to be the same since last update. We are losing ground in all the systems we are controling :-(. Being Independent sucks now! Every system we are in has Empire factions. The controling faction seems to also losing influence as well, which is good. Feels like we are in war when actually we are in boom.

On another note I like the influnce signs now. Hint: Check transport passenger missions :D Finally a purpose for my Clipper

Looking at my system and all the systems around me, I definitely feel that something changed in the influence mechanism. Not enough time to grasp exactly what.

Is it just me, or did it tick twice today? Once early afternoon BST (my Faction increased from 20-29%) and again at around 6-7pm-ish (29-34%).

Hrm, in most cases for me things are operating as expected for the most part.

The only variable I am catching is that bounties are doing more work as a whole, but the split is causing significant changes from what I am used to.

Curious. I wonder if its an effect on the shift towards passengers again, and people taking just what is best for them, not working for a particular faction?

One thing I have noticed is they re-balanced how missions are being generated. Makes it easier to find a mission for a faction, but its no longer dominated by the faction with the most influence. People could just be taking other faction jobs as they go through.

Watching with interest. I will agree with Sentenza. Something seems very different.
Have those PowerPlay players been whinging to FDev again (or should I say "still?")?

Thanks! :D

Another question!
There is a system with foreign minor faction that own a planetary port. Their influence is just 3% and for some reason they owned a port. And if they are retreating out of the system, who will own their property after they are gone?

system controlling faction will take over, we have won several stations in that way without conflict.

What I'm seeing in the last few days is that mission running is not very effective for BGS purposes. And I could be imagining it, but I think payouts for missions took a nerf.

The last 3 days (state was none, boom, boom), I've been running ~ 7 missions/day in one system (1H, 2M, 3 or 4 L), and the inf for that faction has been stagnant. Prior to 2.3, that would have been good for a 1.5-2.5% inf gain per day.

A friend has been BH in a nearby system, and has pushed inf up about 8% over the past few days. Yes, this system is only 3M vs 500M in my system. Cmdr traffic has not changed much.

I guess I'll restart tracking bounties and swap to BH in my system and see what happens. My bet is that inf will go up. I think BH is now the best way to change inf unless in election/famine/outbreak.

2.3 finally brought a more accurate display for mission rewards, but I wonder if it wasn't just a display bug?

As in their "fix" actually reduced mission influence effects?
