A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

Gemai,

in the example above are the factions now showing as communist on the gal map and system map & acting as communist for the purposes of conflicts?

I haven't tested it. I saw no reason to. They show as communist on the galmap and declare their goods illegal/legal in system. Also the jump doesn't warn someone entering a subdued anarchy anymore like it should. I haven't seen the overlords ships in anarchy systems patrolling though... I didn't check the Khemaraui colonies either (not anarchist) for the current security force.

The faction subdued doesn't change government.

This mostly concerns RP and Galmap.

There is no such thing as galaxy map rule.
There is ruling faction government type.
Ruling faction is the one that controls ruling station.
Please provide more than anecdotal evidence for such far reaching theories.

There is no such thing as galaxy map rule.

Triggers for PP are a galaxy map rule that affects the fortification and expansion. That aside.

I told you of TWO systems to check if you want proof. Now I tell you a third cluster. You can ask them, it is a PMF as well.
RSM has lost control of Bahmian to the local pirates due to their war enemy. With now most of their "system" assets outside of Wonga ruled by anarchists, Wonga has now turned to ANARCHY on the map. RSM is a Theocracy.

That's interesting. +1. I wouldn't have thought it would work that way. I'll have to check the maps tonight when I get home.

<edit> I'd assume that it doesn't affect trade and such in the home system (Wonga in this case) though. Does it? </edit>

I dont need to check anything.
You vastly fuzzy understanding of basic features like system rule and powerplay fortification and undermining triggers.

We have already influenced powerplay mechanics on a vehemently influential scale. And no, there is no PP galaxy map rule. There are controlled systems and exploited systems. There are sometimes galaxy map bugs. And there might be PP control bugs in the PP system display and calculation.

But unannounced features? They are called bugs, if they exist at all.

The BGS effects PP triggers etc, not the other way around. If a control system has >50% of exploited systems that have a favourable govt type the trigger is halved, if it has >50% unfavourable govt type the triggers are doubled. The rest of PP control is largely meaningless to the BGS other than some benefits to pledged cmdrs in terms of influence effects.

Accurate to the best of my knowledge. This is our group's entire purpose.

Edit: or maybe not quite. We have never seen a doubled trigger. Penalty state appears to be 150% of default (so +50%/-50% for the respective trigger states).

PP control and exploitation can effect trade etc giving credit bonuses etc. Mahon space has an agricultural goods trade bonus for example. It does not and cannot change a faction government from one type to another. There is no mechanism to do that in game - God mode would need to be activated.

As Flin has said the Galmap is not always accurate. it is hugely improved but for more than a year it did not show changes in system government etc. There may still be some legacies of that time.

I said nothing else. What I said is that the galactic BGS effects towards PP (triggers) might be affected by this subject phenomenon. Which means if it HAS effect on the "PP control" it would make it unnecessary to expand into 50% of bubble systems if you can just subject a regional BGS power.

For all 100+ system changes I supported / observed, the map always updated correctly and in less than 4 hours after the asset changed hand. All you need is relog - not play on.

These 3 cases are RECENT handovers, not some legacy of yours.

It does not. Killing people still angers RSM. So the local law remains in place. I visited Wonga for that reason. No one is lawless and RSM remains in patrol control.

Gemai,

Our alliance faction sometimes shows up as federation - imagine the shame of it! the Galmap, and the info upon jump are notoriously bugged.

I'm fairly connected with the Powerplay BGS community within the Empire at least, and this hasn't been seen afaik, so whether or not triggers are affected is obviously quite unknown.

There are a few trigger abnormalities, so we can look for this type of situation in those spheres.

Galmap not updating was blamed on a caching issue by Michael Brookes, perhaps this should be bug reported again. Best of luck getting it seen to in the current development/post 2.2 bug fix/balancing rage environment!

My main concern is keeping track of actual pirates to hunt them down with the APF. The "accidental" ability to subdue or oppress systems in roleplay is quite hilariously useful and makes for great narritives.

I don't care about PP one bit.

Can someone explain this?

We expanded into a system, (had equal % on moving in so went to war, we won...yay) and started working missions to build rep to 60% to start civil war, we were getting static around the 56% mark so did a bit (alot) of system authority killing. The next tick we jumped to 73.7% and the controlling faction went from 23% to 1% and pending lockdown. During the day we saw Pending civil war....the tick has just happened, we are at 74.4%, and are now pending Expansion??? not civil war any more....

Other notes : The controlling faction were in civil war in another system, if that matters? on this tick they are None pending civil unrest & Lockdown

Why did the pending state change?
Why into expansion? we are not 75% yet

Confused in not anywhere close at the moment, you extreme knowledge is required
