This is how FF14 on steam works: you can get it from steam, you can play it through steam if you have an existing account simply by hitting "download trial".
No keys, no account linking, no crazyness.

That only works because FF14 HAS a trial version, which btw you also can get from the FF14 site directly, you don't need Steam for that.
Therefor, unless FD decides to publish a trial version, there won't be one. Steam or not.
Or what am i missing here ?

Oh yea. I don't care if it's a key or some other way to get us on Steam, but I would love achievements/able to write reviews/badges/etc..

since almost all my games are on the steam library, it would be nice if i can have Elite in there as well

I had just bought a copy for me and a friend less then a week ago, held off for months hoping for steam. Now, i feel slightly robbed. So yeah, a steam key is wanted.

I didn't see any whining, I think he was just curious what all the fuss about a Steam key is. As am I, that's not whining or a criticism, I just don't know, why is it a big deal?

Not bothered at all myself. Have lots of games on steam. Linking this to them isn't a thing for me at all. Not sure what the real benefit would be if it were.

I think Steam keys for those who already own the game would be good for both Frontier and us players who want the game on Steam.
Every time a player uses his/her Steam key it is going to count as a sale, keeping ED at the top of the charts longer, more exposure means more copies sold, right now it is #1 on Steam above GTA V which is saying a lot, players who prefer to have their games in one place like me would benefit, plus if Frontier had a bit of Steam integration we could get automatic updates, I know they said they have no plans for Achievements or trading cards, but nothing about updates, overall I think giving keys to those who own the game would be nothing but good.

One thing I think would prevent it is if people were selling their keys, so maybe an email confirmation or something after launching the game on steam would prevent the problem.

What is this Steam thing? Obviously I don't care but if enough people do, they should offer it. Still, I fail to see the clamour for something you never had, and still can't have but whatever.

It's a bit self serving to make a poll that only asks for one opinion, but for people habituated to something, Steam in this case, how could it hurt?
