I think a complete erase at first offense is a little much, but something more than the current lash with a wet noodle is needed. Some variance of:

  • Destroying an unwilling clean ship gets the attacker to pay for the ship's insurance, and value of any content lost. This includes cargo and data.
  • Destroying a harmless or mostly harmless clean ship does the above, plus a 1 day jail term.
  • If ATR is called in to deal with a ganker, they will not announce themselves like they do now as this gives the offender plenty of time to kill some more and escape to safety.
  • ATR will follow gankers across the galaxy for a number of days equivalent to their notoriety.

All of the above are for gankers. As much as I despise the profession, pirates are gameplay. For clarity, you are a (parasite) pirate if you try to steal someone else's cargo. I will deny I ever said this, but: most pirates are decent.

Someone has to play the bad guy.

If you introduce that death penalty, no one will want to play gankers anymore. The galaxy will become too safe and boring :ROFLMAO:

P.S. Also griefers can play their Sidewinders with only 1% armour remaining, fly and crash into your ship, got themselves killed. That would earn you who is innocent the death penalty.

Get rid of all the people who think it's funny to attack people just "for the lulz" and I'll think about it. But at the end of the day, people are arseholes at the best of times and people in online games are MASSIVE areseholes. So no. I have no interest, ever, in playing in open. But then I also had no interest in this even being an always-online game to begin with and will never forget Frontier's lies during the kickstarter.

Nope. No one said that. Thank you for playing.

It's pretty rude to call someone "no one", whose post is literally 1 post above the one you replied to:

What do you think being put in jail for one day sounds like and not being able to do anything? Sounds like a ban to me you silly goose.
