Exactly. I have zero problem with a truly robust security response, and have been requesting better, more well equipped and aggressively flown NPC's across the spectrum since the community begged Frontier to nerf the original 2.1 NPC's. My problem is that the current implementation of ATR make no sense in the big picture, add nothing to the overall game environment and rely completely on magic. I would love to see a wing of Elite security forces deploy flown like true Elite pilots and armed with g5 weapons and modules...that were obtainable by all of us. That would be effective, and actually make sense.

Can you imagine things like modded prismatic shield condas with SCBs being healed by a healing beam iCourier that zips off when you engage it?

Players would need to being actual tactics of their own and likely multiple players to stand a chance.

That would be real salt there if you didn't bring cascade torps.

I drool at the thought. Figuratively speaking, of course.

This is the first game I ever knew where a certain part of the game is made especially to make the player loose. All other games - even the hardest arcade games - were made to be won by the player.

Exactly. That is precisely what I'd hoped to see. Nailed it.

Gotta say I don't believe there's an AI that could compete with the best CMDR pilots using the same tools. FD's decision to use equipment not available to players is probably a necessity. Otherwise the ATR wouldn't even be as effective as they are right now. Sure Harry Potter can game them, but how much more useless would they be if they had the same equipment as us?

I can't think of another solution, but then I know I may not be very imaginative.

I don't understand this school of thought. When it comes to creative solutions or tactics, we have a debate. For technical competition an unrestricted AI will beat all but a few truly, truly exceptional individuals.

Just look at chess. It takes the world's greatest to beat the hardest AI we have, and those players are capable of analysing the exact risk and return of every move. Basically, better computer thinking than the computer.

Ohh you not heard of concord? I think FD have dialled the PK aspects of C&P at about the 'Stop that!, it's silly' level right now. We have no idea what the max setting on that dial is.
