Allow use of pre 3.3 Advanced Discovery Scanner

It's a TOOL max, and pretending it to be otherwise through convoluted explanation is silly, I think you've gone too far for too long in your denigration of the ADS and it's supporters even its suggested revised function that you'd feel silly were you to accept its proposed reintroduction.
I said it was a tool. Did you not read what I wrote. A tool can also be a reward though.

Now you are being silly. I have not denigrated these people, if anything it's been the other way round. Being constantly attacked due to a difference of opinion is not on, and you are now doing the same, just because I see something differently to you.

Why can't you accept that people feel differently to you.

I have written up two compromises that have fallen on deaf ears. I have also given reason why I don't like the ADS use at the same time as the FSS, bit my opinion is dismissed because it isn't the same as theirs. This is a recurring issue.

People giving false and unpleasant reasoning and motivation about my difference of opinion is disgusting.

But of course, I am the one denigrating.

Yes, it is. I am assuming you are referring to me and that is not the reason I give.

I'm not specifically referring to you Max, and nothing I wrote in my post was 'wrong'. I have used the FSS, and obviously the old exploration methods, and what I wrote is factually correct from my perspective and experience.

If it doesn't reflect your experience with the tools that's fair enough.

And actually, if you read the post of mine that you claim is wrong, I say precisely that...

The reward of fast scanning is got by using the FSS... So perhaps we agree. :)

Thats some twisty desperate thinking there. It rewards you with a tool? lol @ that.
Bah ha ha ha ha. What do you think happens in nearly every FPS and most other games. You do stuff in a FPS and it rewards you with a new gun that new gun is a tool to kill other things in a more efficient way. That is what happens in pretty much every modern game today. They reward you with tools.

I can't believe what people write in these forums.

Then don't generalise, it can cause misunderstandings.

That wasn't my point of view though. Just pointing out that it is a perfectly valid point of view though. If people feel rewarded by getting the system map, then they feel rewarded. Whether it's a tool or money or anything else, it's still a reward.

Yeah nor me. Iv never really thought of guns as rewards in FPS games tbh. Tools yes but not rewards.
But you wouldn't be rewarded with that tool if you don't do certain things. Even credits can be considered a tool. They can still be rewards though.

A reward is a thing given in recognition of service, effort, or achievement. A thing can be anything even a tool.

I just dont know what to say. You have put a hella lot of effort into telling people they cant have their fun back. I can say with complete honesty i really couldnt care less what other people get up to in this game. Its not like there isnt enough stars to go round is it?

The worst thing is that most people would stop playing. I doubt it will happen though. What will likely happen though is that people will gravitate to what's easiest and always have both on board and then complain about how boring exploration is. It's what people do.

Ermm, Max, there are people who still complain about how simple exploration is. Some of us don't like the point, zoom, tune minigame.

There is a difference though. One is just a slightly more advanced version of another. If anyone has an issue with the ADC, then they should have issues with the DC too. But to be honest, it such a minor thing that I cant be bothered to care that much. It doesn't effect the game that much. The ADS does.

The ADS is a worse version of the FSS except for its capability of showing the system map in seconds which has the least objective value as it provides no tags and very few (it could be 0 for all I care) credits.

What precedent is that. If you are talking about the ADC and DC, well that is nothing like it. That is more like when they added the IDS and the ADS when we only had the BDS.

I'm sorry Max, there's still only one example of a player who cares enough about what others do to maybe quit in the case their wishes are granted, and there's no precedent of any significant amount of people leaving because of a new module.

No it's not objective because you are putting a personal bias on it as you are making assumptions. That is not objective.

The only bias (which there is in just about anywhere BTW) in that statement was used to assume that very few people would leave.

Look, I'm gonna give you an example of an objective case that still has assumptions coded in it or else it's undecidable in nature. You cannot escape assumptions, not even in math which is just about the most objective subject there is.

FEN: 8/8/5k2/8/5b2/7K/r5B1/5N2 w - - 0 51

Plug that into a chessboard and tell me, can white win? You'll sooner or later know why it doesn't matter what answer you give, you'll assume something.

I have on many occasions made special note that people feel differently about many things, in recent posts too.
No max, I understand that people are different and have different desires.

and yes, you are! just look at your replies above, a posters explains something and you say "pathetic"... yesssss, a useful and in depth comment.

Maybe you should read what was written in that post. It was very unpleasant, hence why I said pathetic as that was the best way to describe it.

Sorry, but there is no reason for that, it doesn't make sense. I don't like it and wouldn't want it in the game.

Yet it is true and it happens in real life, look at it this way, nothing is perfect in the real world, products are flawed, materials don't last forever, modules fail. Why would you expect your ship to work in such unrealistic perfection?

I don't care about real life. I care about how the game is that I want to play. I will not like that in the game.

People kept crying about Exploration needing some love. They gave it some and now people want it back to the way it was. They (FD) just can't win. Sheesh!!! And for those who say, "I wasn't one of the ones crying for it." I didn't ask for permits to visit Sol and Achenar. I didn't enjoy the fact you had to have a Baron's rank to own an Imperial Clipper, or a CPO to own a dropship. But I didn't complain about it. I just made the best of it cause that's the way it is. Well, now Exploration is the way it is. So make the best of it.

Max, I have just re-read and re re-read that offending post and the only thing I see as anywhere near offensive is the opening line about aggressively written views ... well, this morning I was thinking along the same lines, feeling that some of your post are very abrasive almost to the point of rudeness, I do try to curb my strongly felt posts and I understand sometimes I am guilty of abrasion myself, however, if it were pointed out to me that the tone of my views could be moderated then I would look inwardly to find out why.
