An Honest Review From a well-rounded gamer(non-spacenerd)

You say "most of you" as if you did extensive surveys about what ED backers want.

You are projecting your own ideas on this and want to turn it into what _you_ think a game should be.

Think back. Remember the days when every game was different. When you learned controls by hitting every button on the keyboard. When you had no idea what you were about to experience when you got a new game, because there was no internet around to tell you what to expect, what to believe, what to make of it.

Yeah. That. ^^
When were these days? Before the internet we had magazines. Before they shipped with DVD's with demos, they were mailed with floppies. Hell I go back far enough that I remember magazines that predated the floppies. They had pages and pages of code that you'd have to type in yourself to play the game. There has never been the desert of information that you describe.

Anyone else feeling a tad of hostility bordering on hatred?

I'm new to Elite. I've noticed rather... passionate responses to critiques made against the game to be common on the forums. I've said my piece a few times on a few topics and am generally surprised by some responses considering my comments are born of interest in seeing the game improve. Folks who have spent considerable time and conceivably money supporting the game thus far should come to terms with the fact that as of release, many people who were not involved in the development, and are simply gamers, or fans of the genre will buy it, play it and come to these forums to discuss it.

Happy Hunting!

I even got a Elite tattoo across my butt. Honestly what did you Guys exspect ??

Less information.

Ermmmm, did you not read about the Elite franchise before purchasing this game? Were you expecting unicorns farting powerups and moondust?
I fail to see how reading about the Elite franchise would prepare a new player or set his expectations. I for one wanted to see things myself without having the wrong expectations set. You know, looking at things with a brand new pair of eyes, as they say.
The headline shoved into my eyes was "400 BILLION STARS". Wonderful, I thought. Turns out that a very very tiny piece of all that actually has any content. That's my arguably biggest disappointment.

Elite at it's heart has always been about trading with the shooty bits added on, it's also always been about simulation of space and a hardcore one at that, hence a scifi/astronomy nerds dream. That alone had always captured my interest and adventurous side just to go forth and see whats out there in the black.

Nothing. There's nothing out there in the black, that's what there is. Empty space among more empty space.
