PvP An Investigation Into Frontier's Actions on Combat Logging, Part 2

Logging is cheating, its as simple as that. I really cant understand why folks fly in Open if they cant accept the risk.

An example from this evening:

The group im with were messing around shooting eachother with unmodded vipers outside a backwater station. An Elite player Conda appears and watches for bit (we leave him alone). He then decides to open fire on us. So we all turn on him. He then logs.....

Its so common in the game now. Much more so than the early days.

No video.
It didn't happen !

Edit: im not sure why this is now in the PvP section as ive heard of folks logging vs NPCs bizarrely. Which is still cheating.....

If this is so common why isn't FDev email servers crashing under the weight of all the clog reports?

I'm not saying it isn't common but if it were a real issue and the people complaining so much in threads like these were logging all encounters as they are claiming then FDev would have a metric ton of work to do. It wouldn't go unattended.

Ultimately you are exactly correct. Too bad you didn't start this thread.
Unfortunately it started off with two strikes against it:
1) SDC (of all groups!!) waving a in-game morality flag. Can't get more ridiculous then that.
2) Super-scientific CL sample size of 5 in 5 months. Almost as good. This proves...what?

CL is "cheating" and it is wrong. But who cares? That subset of player types (PvP'er) who do absolutely nothing to help themselves on this forum. That's not to say a few are not rational but after making a valid point (unlike here) their PvP fellows have to jump on and ruin the original point with inane arguments and examples.

I don't PvP - I can't - my internet connection doesn't allow it and occasionally struggles with PG but I support the PvP quest in that Open is Open. If you don't want to be ganked, engage in PvP combat, or have your T7 blown up by an Engineered FdL, then why the hell are you in Open? So you fly in Open and then CL when the going gets tough?
I would be very curious who is actually CLogging. The trader minding his own business or the PvP'er who bit off more then he could chew. I have my suspicions about who and what your typical CL'er is.

I believe you missed a third and far more likely reason for no dedicated PvP group - they might get hurt!
It's one thing to jump Adders and T9's, piloted by Cmdr's just trying to enjoy the game.
It's quite another to be "trapped" in a group with fellow gankers in equally Engineered Death Machines! They might get hurt.
Your own salt it no good! Wonder what the CL rate would be there. Anyone want to honestly take a guess?

So true. That's also why there's no one on CQC despite so many people who purport to love "PvP". They'd have to fight on an equal playing field instead of interdicting weaponless Type-6s who have no chance of fighting back.

Then you probably haven't heard of the PvP hub. Discord server with 800 members and various channels with matchmaking bots that create randomized teams based on each player's winrate and number of fights. We operate in our own system and do nothing but organised wing fights against each other in engineered ships.

A few trash-tier gankers have ragequit it because they prefer killing randoms at CG's, but they're a tiny minority and a laughing stock of the rest of the PvP community.

Come check it out if you don't believe it: https://discord.gg/JmrZNVf

Love how this was nonchalantly moved to the PvP section. Classy, FDEV!

Yeah... apparently combat logging against NPCs does not exist...
Apparently so. What a truly poor show from the mods. Their anti-PvP bias is so strong it blocked out their ability to use their brains. Gee, I guess we're not playing a game with a shared BGS whereby you can put influence numbers in that should not have existed via combat logging to bypass the game's intended purposes. Oh won't this be fun when FD manage to do nothing at all when they buff security responses to prevent the BGS ez win button of security ship killing. Yeah, combat logging totally doesn't affect the PvE side. No worries guys, it's a PvP exclusive issue. It totally doesn't make most of the PvE mechanics in ED a total laughing stock. That's totally why we're taking this discussion off of the front page of our most visble and active part of the game's official forum and burying it. Yep, nothing shady about that.

Yeesh. At this point they might as well cut the hypocrissy and rename the PvP section the "Trash bin" because that's what they obviously created it for.

I'm just trying to figure out which is the most embarrassing: Paige's protestations that fdev really does indeed and truly police the game "secretly" or what seems like 2/3's of the forum base defending clogging, handily using the fact that it's "the bad guys" that are delivering the unhappy newsflash to legitimatize their crummy, cheating viewpoints.

This repulsive twaddle is why I fell in with the PvP world in the first place. I'll take SDC's company any day of the week.

I might not go that far personally, but I'm leaning that way. Luckily, it's not a singular choice between the two extremes.

Makes you want to go out and shoot innocent traders, don't it?

FD doesn't police the game - period, exclamation point.

It therefor doesn't matter what the forum or 2/3's of it endorses as it is not an issue.

FD doesn't care at all about Combat logging so why should we?

It is what it is...

Time to just move on

Dear God, community...

I've seen less pathetic justification for cheating on Ashley Madison.

The problem is that Ashely Madison probably has more credibility than SDC at this point. Which is setting the bar rather low since most of their profiles are apparently fake.

There is no such thing as an innocent trader.

FD doesn't care at all about Combat logging so why should we?

Because it's a problem that undermines the playability and enjoyment of the game.

FDev's unfortunate lack of consistent enforcement of their rules doesn't give me licence to ignore them, nor does it mean I'll give up hope that they'll eventually recognize the magnitude of the issue and get around to doing something about it.

SDC doesn't need any credibility for the argument they present to stand on it's own merits.

That's the thing about the good points...it doesn't matter one whit who is making them.

The discussion should be about Frontier's enforcement, or lack thereof, of their own rules; not SDC's credentials.
