Question: If we only have 3 bird slots left, which do you pick?
Incredibly difficult to pick just 3, but these are birds I either have liked for a long time or really come to like recently:

1. Ocellated turkey - Brilliant colourful species from Central America, that I could imagine mixing very well with animals like tapirs. Would be my top choice of an animal for the North American continent.
2. Victoria crowned pigeon - The main Oceanian bird that I want, which are able to be kept in open-topped displays, are suitable for walkthrough displays and are also pretty sociable. They are one of the few birds my local zoo actually keeps and they are always one of the highlights when I visit.
3. Goliath heron - Crazily impressive birds (to those familiar with the grey heron - the beak of the goliath is as long as the entire head and beak of the grey heron) that would fit into both African and Asian sections of a zoo and are able to be kept in open-topped paddocks with other animals. To me they are like a shoebill but better in every possible way.

Bar-headed goose, a pelican and a South American ground bird (either the giant wood-rail or grey-winged trumpeter) round out the top six, but I could easily name fifteen birds that would be very high on my personal wishlist. Goose misses out purely because we now have a waterfowl in the game and I'd like a bit more taxonomic diversity added to the game.

Question: If we only have 3 bird slots left, which do you pick?
Why do you hurt me like this?

1. Mallard Duck (literally the duck, I mean look at the emoji 🦆)(also Europe and NA bird)
2. American Flamingo (SA and NA representation)
3. Burrowing Owl (SA and NA, first owl, and can use the burrowing feature)

With these I can get some more temperate birds, a bird for the desert, and SA and NA can finally have birds.

Dang I didn’t know people wanted ducks this bad. I’d be ok if we didn’t get any, I got one animal to make my ponds active, not needing another and would prefer more habitat birds.

Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo have some lovely exhibits with waterfowl, I would like to replicate that in game!

Stone Zoo has this one:
1. American flamingos
2. Scarlet Ibis
3. Macaw species
4. Some other ducks, I think the goldeneye?

Franklin Park Zoo has:
To be honest it has one outdoor waterfowl pond covered in mesh, that one I think has over 6 species inside. Then they also have black swans, and inside their bird world house they have even more waterfowl.

Not to mention Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo make up an organization called Zoo New England. Together they have an amazing collection of birds, which is one of the reasons I desperately want more in game.

What really got me on the waterfowl grind was another New England Zoo: Buttonwood park zoo. When I went in April I fell in love with all the waterfowl they have. Waterfowl can serve as great “filler animals”. Yes you could just place down a pond and call it a day, or you can make an entire meshed aviary.

I just want more duckies 😢

FPZ has Hooded Crane, Red-breasted Goose, Scaly-sided Merganser, and Baikal Teal among others

The thing is, ducks are not just something you throw at a pond and call it a day, ducks are most importantly the kings of flexibility.

Some things to do with ducks:
  • throw on a random pond
  • add into literally any other habitat with a water feature that wouldnt maul them
  • aviarys, especally wetland aviarys
  • once we got some more birds for aviarys, they can be mixed with most of them
  • ducks do not devalue each other, the more the merrier, you could fill a random pond with 18 different duck species and it wouldnt just be pretty but acurate to real zoos

A duck can go anywhere with anything in anyways and thats why i want them so badly.
Is a duck on its own that special?
Not really, but even now you can throw them into pretty much every niche your zoo has to offer and it will make it better.
Thats why i want atleast one duck for everywhere and the fact that you can cover that with just 2 ducks is pretty dope.
Sure we can get a scarlet ibis and a pelican for africa or we get a white faced whistling duck that fills both niches at the same time + madagascar.
Sure the others are in a vacuum more interesting but if its about actually rounding out the roster the ducks do the better job for less slots while also working fantastically once we got those "cooler" animals in the game.

Imagine an SA wetlands aviary with scarlet ibis AND ducks, now that instantly got way cooler

If you love ducks so much, why is your profile picture not of a duck?

I literally can't pick three. The two i deffinitly want are the greater rhea and the secretary bird, but there are so many, many other that i can't just narrow it down to three. Duck, pelican, ibis, spoonbill, pheasant, stork and even one more cranes are all so needed that i'll take any of them.

Who knows maybe the farewell dlc will include a lot of clones and reskins
I believe a farewell dlc would include 15-20 habitats and 5-10 exhibits
