Yeah I was just trying not to promise something before it's announced.
phew
thanks for the reply

Does this mean that all the planets in-game are getting the stellar forge treatment, not just the small rocky ones?
Have the dev team considered using OpenCL for the compute portion?

I asked this same question during the stream, but the answer seemed to indicate (not 100% clear) that the other planets would NOT change for Horizons.
Thinking about it, IF the other planets DID get updated, then there probably wouldn't be much more work to make them landable as well. FD could, for example, say that planets with atmospheres had also been updated and we could land on them, but the actual atmospheres and life etc. would come later. So I really don't think that's what they meant.
OKSo we were promised 25 ships, then giving another 5. So if this means there is MORE!
I'm happy with that

Zac,As for the refund. If someone is a Mac customer and they want to discuss their lifetime expansion pass then of course will be happy to. Those people should get in touch with our support team by submitting a ticket here: https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/
Hi,
Lot's of questions here and understandably so.
We know that the news is disappointing and as we've said, hand on heart, we would like to continue support for the Mac version. More importantly we very much expect that we will be able to support Mac again in the future and we're still working on that. However, we think it's important to be open and honest about the technical issues we are facing with Horizons so that everyone is informed.
In terms of Metal. As I said earlier in the thread, I'm not a technical guy but from speaking to the devs we know that the issue is more in the finer detail of how the compute shaders work in Metal at this stage. Safe to say that we're looking into it, we're working closely with Apple, and we hope to have some news soon.

OpenCL is alternative, only except it has strong limitations comparing to compute shaders, which can be multithreaded.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. First of all, not having visual updates would make them a bit jarring in quality, so I suspect there will be LOD improvements for atmospheric planets. Said that, most likely they won't have level of detail of airless planets.
So certainly some upgrades for all planets, but not detail we saw in video for atmospheric ones.

Sorry, another Mac related question which may have already been covered but I can't find an answer.
Horizons will no longer support a Mac client, check. Does that mean that the current season one Mac client will continue to work if I do not buy Horizons and just continue playing season one, or will that cease to function when Horizons launches? If it is going to continue to work for season one, will FD maintain it ongoing or is it going to be dropped if no compute shader solution can be implemented before, say, season three?
I'm not sure what to make of the announcement that shaders are a requirement for horizons, but not the game as it stands from release to now, therefor tough luck to any open source (openGL) or Mac platform.
If I were a betting man, I'd say this was deliberate to force MS only play.
