Also station ambush looool, you don't ambush pvp ships anymore the TTK is waaaaayyy too high again is your Entire PVP experience watching the AA "This is our house" Video??
Bringing up wings is absolutely not a different topic, wing fighting IS pvp, that is what pvp is and what we do, you just have no idea lmao is this some kind of joke? 'Wingfights are won by attrition' of course, that could mean literally anything, and no DPS superiority absolutely does not play a major role, cannot facepalm any harder, application of DPS and ability to evade it is first of all entirely separate and also completely different. That is what wins you wingfights, "evasion doesn't work well against multiple targets" YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, i'm going to have a seizure if you keep typing poopoo like this. You have never done one clearly, you can and people do it every single wingfight there is, it is an absolutely CORE skill of a PVPer, honestly I can't tell if you are just trolling at this point. "yes it is a counter" no it is not, a counter is emissive to Silent running, a counter is missiles to hulltanks, a counter is feedback cascade to banks. having more DPS via different mods is not a "counter" again should this totally incorrect view be correct, isn't it a bit odd that no one runs rapid fire screening shell frags? Given that they have the highest sustained DPS in the game? It certainly isn't to me because having higher DPS is no counter whatsoever. Also if you think you can beat a meta pilot with frags I just suggest you actually try, I can arrange such a fight right now so you can get hit with some reality.

Pacs aren't hard countered by TLB because they aren't ToT weapons like you claim.

I didn't claim they were "hard countered". I said it cut down on DPS by 30 to 60% when combined with evasion. I am not as pro drag frag as you think I am. In fact I wouldn't care if the effect was removed from frags entirely.
 
Pacs are countered by TLB, because ToT vs agile pilots isn't 100%, unlike beating up on drifty Asps with 100% gimbal powered ToT. Even with the cooldown, Pacs are so ToT dependent vs ships like FDLs, that combining evasion with TLB can cut down on your Pac DPS by 30 to 60%.

if they were gimballed I could see your point because TLB, however momentarily, removes the lead reticle and more importantly stops the gimbals from pointing at it, but if someone TLBs me when I'm using a fixed projectile weapon I'm still going to know roughly where to aim relative to their ship to still hit them (unless they just made a huge change to their vector at the same time which, you guessed it, drag stops them doing) because that sight was still there a fraction of a second ago and will be there again in a fraction of a second's time when I tap my "highest threat" keybind. You could argue that I'm not gonna be pinpoint accurate leading my targets by mk1 eyeball instead of the sight, but not having to be pinpoint accurate is the entire point of frags/pacifiers. They're space shotguns.

are you thinking of packhounds breaking missile lock and having to lock again after being broken?
 
Two things I am not sure about after reading the patch notes:
Have the wing core-mining bugs been fixed?
Has the yellow screen-wide flicker in Xeno-combat zones been fixed?

By this I mean the one where when zooming into an atmospheric planet or volcanic activity airless planet, the info doesn't show up on the right hand side.

I have to zoom in a second time to get this info. This not only happens on the PC but also on my Xbox.

Apologies again if this has been asked.

It's not in the patch notes, so we will just have to wait and see whether it was one of the bugs that didn't make it into the list. 🤞
 
Once upon a time we had update patches with interesting quality of life improvements thrown in. Now the interesting QoL improvements are the update patches.

The Elite Dangerous servers will be offline for all platforms from tomorrow morning (23 April) for approximately 8 hours as we apply the April Update. There is a chance that this could run over,

When did the definition of an approximation change?

I have tried being civil with you, since I am not your enemy and I don't disagree with you as much as you seem to think about whether this change should be implemented. But you only seem to be interested in launching insults over obvious misinterpretations of what I am saying. I think we do disagree philosophically on the most effective and important aspects of PVP, I don't think that makes you particularly wrong, since I am sure you could personally back up your claims, except that I have fought many meta FDLs and they all had the theoretical ability to do the things you say they can do, with their cookie cutter builds, but they didn't have the skill to actually pull it off. The FDL-type low DPS agility based ships are extremely skill dependent. And the amount of skill required to overcome a reasonably skilled high DPS build is very high imo, and not very common.
 
Am I the only person that forgot about this update, and had a stack of missions queued up? Is there any chance that we could have those cancelled/forgiven, since server downtime is making them fail (afaik)?

dont hold me to this, but i always thought all missions were wiped with no neg consequences with a major update?

Surely this should be one of the "unlisted" 750 bugs, whereas major things like 2 minute scan times ought get top billing (assuming the latter was fixed at all).

I really hope that you're right. I wasn't sure if this qualified as a major update, and I usually complete mission within a few hours of accepting them.
 
I don't disagree with you as much as you seem to think about whether this change should be implemented.

A cursory glance at your post history in this thread shows otherwise. If you've changed your mind in the face of evidence that's great, (a rare case of internet discourse actually bearing fruit?) but trying to stealthily backpedal from an untenable stance isn't likely to fool anyone.

So should I even bother downloading this update or should I wait for the point release coming in two days that reverses the DM changes?
