Patch Notes Update April Update - Patch Notes

So should I even bother downloading this update or should I wait for the point release coming in two days that reverses the DM changes?

If a few hours of moaning is all it took to change this drag thing while explorers have been completely ignored for months over the FSS it will just add weight to my theory that the FSS was designed to ruin exploration on purpose.

Disclaimer, I don't think the drag change is good, because I don't think overpowered special engineering effects are good at all. Look at other MMOs, side bonus effects are never game changers. FD just introduced another 'game changing' special effect, to go with corrosive and scramble.

Having said that, you FDL people have to understand that you've had the advantage for too long. If an FDL and a challenger both have a drag frag now, the challenger will be able to keep up with the FDL (at least in terms of maneuvers). This is arguably a good change. However, this is a super weird, and I'm not sure appropriate way, to nerf the FDL and mamba.

Five pages before i see the first reasonable response on this thing. Everything before seems to be gut reflex. Somehow i am not surprised that the first posting on it which stopped to think before commenting was done by you. :)

On how it really turns out, i guess we'll only see when the patch actually is life and we managed to give it a try. My first thought on it also was like "yes, now it does what the description already says since a long time, but it can turn out to be a huge mess". But unlike many, i wouldn't dare to already judge before trying.

it was worth having this dumpster fire of a thread.

People frequently misinterpret and get overly defensive in the face of criticism. Saying please let's be nice to Fdev is understandable and in some ways admirable... but not constructive. This thread isn't a dumpster fire, it's a lot of people expressing very valid concerns about a change. A change being made to a game that, presumably, everyone in this forum enjoys. It's implicit that we're all invested in Elite. Admittedly some of the snark could be turned down, but this is the internet - what're you gonna do? Just revel in it. You'd honestly hope Frontier are sufficiently grown up to handle complaints without crying into their cereal.

Those pushing for a yeasaying utopian forum in which we all pat everyone on the back are, I'm sure, lovely people, but games in active development without user feedback are poorer for it. (Also the same people tend to change their minds pretty fast when patchnotes have a more direct impact on their playstyle... funny that.)

Hey Frontioer guys, are you thinking about some storage space on stations? there is a strogae for modules also for ships but there is missing storage for cargo, mined ore for example or some guradians/tharghoids things, i think it would be usefull

The disappearing stars bug is what ruined (deep space) exploration for me. I see no mention of it in the patch notes, but maybe I skimmed too quickly.

As for ADS, I think if it was coming back, this would have been the update, especially since everybody got new slots for a DC. 🤷‍♂️

You are one of the few PvPers on this forum i find offers balanced opinions and looking at things from alternate perspectives, while acknowledging flaws rather than just offering up salt.

Kudos.

I do so hope the drag experimental goes through as advertised.... Not seen this much salt extraction and drama since one of the dodgy tv programs came out!

Also you shoud add more social details of players, for example squadron players statistics, kills, deaths, gained reputation... it could be fine instead of all EDMC and familiar tools

There's a big difference between constructive criticism and feedback, and abuse. And this thread is full of the latter.

I have tried being civil with you, since I am not your enemy and I don't disagree with you as much as you seem to think about whether this change should be implemented. But you only seem to be interested in launching insults over obvious misinterpretations of what I am saying. I think we do disagree philosophically on the most effective and important aspects of PVP, I don't think that makes you particularly wrong, since I am sure you could personally back up your claims, except that I have fought many meta FDLs and they all had the theoretical ability to do the things you say they can do, with their cookie cutter builds, but they didn't have the skill to actually pull it off. The FDL-type low DPS agility based ships are extremely skill dependent. And the amount of skill required to overcome a reasonably skilled high DPS build is very high imo, and not very common.
I quoted you directly in every response I made
